Rough Country Hydro Shock Lift

Does anyone have experience with this lift?

Says it will fit 265s. Can I use OME springs with this//how is the ride compared to OME?

junk lift, save your money for a REAL LIFT KIT, not some toy lift. Its bad, its cheap, you will not like yourself in a few months. Just go with a Rustys or OME and you will be so much more happy in the long run!

I want a 3.5" lift if possible. Where can I get one? I heard OME made one but I can't find it

I would like the biggest tire size possible.

Jeepinbyal.com has a 4" and a 6" lift.

265 75 X16s are going to be about the biggest you can run and you can do that with a Frankenlift or OME Heavy Duty coils for that matter. Also with the 4 and 6 inch that JBA has you maybe able to run bigger. BUT REMEMBER when you go bigger and with the 3.73 gears its going to kill your mileage and power, besides its not about being the biggest its being able to get where you are going :wink:

You'll net more than 3.5" with a Frankenlift.

was hoping to get a minimum of 3" by lift alone, and then add more lift from tire size

I'm sure Jeepinbyal has a good product, but I would rather not spend THAT much money on a lift, especially still in it's 'proving' stages.

Think twice about get rusty's then. Mine sagged like a mofo but rides awesome. I seem to have it pretty much leveled out with a 3ring clevis and rusty's strut plates. I think i have just under 3". Works for me for now. If i had to do it again i'd build myself a frankenlift out of ome springs/struts and a daystar lift.

I have a 3 inch rough country lift and its uses the front coils but sends taller coils for the rear. I used the rancho struts for the front and between them and the heckathorn shocks in the back, the ride is about the same. I have BFG AT's 265-70-16's and they seem to do great. I hit the pinch weld in 4 lo and when I back up sometimes but will fix that in the spring. Good luck on your selection.

What's "3.73" gears mean? Something to do with an auto-tranny?

the normal gear ratio of the front and rear axles -

The 4 cylinders had 4.10's I think everyone else has 3.73
(3.54's were supposed to be an option somewhere but I don't know that anyone has them)

If you go to larger tires - you need to go to lower gears (numerically higher)

The six-speeds have 3.55's for sure. I thought the 5-spds were still 3.73.

Reading some other posts on here, I'd be worried about 265's with the D30a, unless it was a street cruiser. Besides height/leverage, those tires are usually like a D or E rating and are therefore heavier.

The difference between a 245/75 & a 265/75 is about an inch. As half of that is above the axle line, that means it is really only about 1/2" taller. Just a thought.

My 265/75 are C so there are some 'ligfhter' and better flexing 32's, not all are heavy D or E rated. Secondly most 245/75's are 30.5 to 30.6, and most 265/75's are 31.8-31.9, so the difference is an inch and a half, so you gain 3/4" of usable lift. The problem of grenading the front diff is from a loss and sudden gain of traction by one wheel (spins and bites, to much torque on the diff, boom, !@#$). Lastly, some official runs require a 31"+ tire to run trails.

However regearing to 4.10's would be recommended when going to a larger tire size.

trying not to get off topic but if I went with OME heavy duty coils in the front without a heavy bumper how much lift would it average? How would the ride be? Also what struts would be recommended with those?
