| Post subject: | Gas Mileage |
I have a 06 KJ, I am interested in putting a 2.5" lift on it. For now I will keep the stock tires and wheels. What kind of gas mileage are most of you with lifts getting? Normal driving and the lead foot effect. I am currently getting around 18mpg around town. Thanks |

Ouch; that's pretty bad.... Does Gas Mileage typically worsen with a lift kit? |

When I had the Frankenlift with stock tires I was getting 19-21. Note that I have a manual transmission. Now with 245/70/16 I am getting around 18 at best and feel less torque. |

I can understand the reason for the weight and bigger tires reducing gas mileage, but why does lifting your vehicle say 2.5" reduce gas mileage? N |

I get 17-19 mpg on the highway in the winter, alittle higher in the summer. I have a 3" lift and 245/70/16 Yoko A/T's. |

Frankenlift, skids, rack and stock wheels and tires I get around 16-17 if I drive normal. (which means lead foot and passing a lot of slow people). When I switch to the MTR/S it drops and I average 14-15ish. Add on the trailer and I get 10-11 with the MTR/S. All totally worth it to have the Jeep. |

15-16 mpg combined city/highway. MT/Rs, steel wheels, 2.5-3.0 lift, lightbar, ski rack..... probably a dirty air filter... |

With 31" tires and steel rims, a 5 speed and an engine with 90,000 miles that has never had a tune up, I got 15.5 on my last tank in 20-30 degree temps and mostly highway driving at 65mph. |

stock i got 19-22mpg depending on the driving conditions.. added the light bar and L.O.S.T. 1-2 mpg.. added the lift, full armor and 32's and now getting 15-16mpg.. however mine is a 6 speed.. and the flowmaster muffler and K&N cold air did improve mpg by roughly 2 mpg |

Have the lifted/bigger tired KJs adjusted the Odometer readings for the larger tires. Probably more than 6% off...just with 235/75/16s and more the larger you go. 15mpg becomes 16.1mpg with just a 6% change |

Did the dealer do this for you? Sounds like a great way to trick the Fuel management system into giving better mileage! |
