foglight doors

hi, the other day i noticed at full lock in reverse goin over a bump i hear a loud rubbing. I have 255/65/16 tires (came with them) and it seems the tires and rubbing on the for light door and one door was pushed inwards. Once pushed inwards it seem to help and the noise is barely there which means they are barely touching.

Now my question is, since the foglight doors are pushed in, the doors are a bit open for dirt mud and water to get in? will that cause any damage to the lights? i have heard of people trimming off the foglight doors but does that have any negative effects?

Not sure if that will cause any harm to the fog lights? It's not that waterproof to begin with.....Time for a lift?

Well its not sealed but the doors were obviously put there for a reason right? lol. they still keep a good amount of stuff out, just want to make sure im not hurting anything, i use my fog lights a lot living near the ocean. Yea a lift, about that... kind of out of my price range for a few years unfortunately. Only 18, still need to pay this off and move out before i think about doing any major mods to my kj unfortunately

I didn't know that the 255/65 were a stock tire. The reason you may be rubbing is because the 255/65 tires are 10" wide compared to say a 235/70 tire that is 9.5" wide. Plus, its a 2004, and unfortunately springs do begin to sag after a while. Espesically if you off-road alot. When did this rubbing start.

i never said they were stock i said it came with them. I didnt buy new, the people who owned it before me put those on. The rubbing has always been there but its very light, it just seems one day the tire caught the foglight door and pushed it in.

It only has 47kms on it (not miles) so like 30k miles, its has barely been offroaded. I know all about the tires being wide and all im just wondering if having the foglight door not completely shut will short out the foglights or do anything else.

That happened to me when I had 255/70/16 tires on rims with 5" BS. It only happened once offroad when I was flexed in alot of mud. I just popped them back out.

yea but they dont fit perfectly back in, they stick out a bit and then the tire rubs, so i left them in and tada, no rubbing lol

I had rubbing at the back of the foglights. I heated that whole area of the liner up with a heatgun and pushed it all forward with a big piece of steel. If you do this be careful not to get the plastic too hot it will get sticky. You will need to use a piece of cold metal to form the soft plastic, a glove will stick right to it and make a mess. The top of a hammer will work OK. You can go back and reheat small areas to get things to fit right if the door won't close properly. My light doors shut a lot tighter than they did before, probably because they ended up getting stretched out. No more rubbing.

I'm running bigger tires 245/75 super swampers & I had to cut some of my fog light doors out, I wouldn't worry about it I had a ton of dirt/mud/leaves etc. in there & they were always closed

if your that worried about it just throw some electrical tape around the wires & connecters & you should be fine, dirt will always find a way in

nono if i know that others have had no problems them im fine, i just want to make sure others have no problems when they cut there and i wont car either. And your right about things getting in opened the other foglight door which was pushed in and it was covered and dirt and mud, how does all that stuff get in? like leaves cant make it through that door so there must be an opening somwhere else that leads to the fog lights
