Just wondering... :?

Finally after 3 months of the lift & tire install, I took the KJ to a local Stealership to have the speedometer re-calibrated and they also adjusted/reset the pinion factor. (It is an Auto Tranny)

Now the KJ shifts better - at more appropriate times... seems to shift more like when it was stock, at more optimal RPM. I would think I'll see a little bit better MPG.

Has anyone else had this done?

No. My tires are just .5in bigger so it doesnt matter.

What the heck is a pinion factor?

How much did they charge?

The term "pinion factor" is what they said they reset/adjusted.

When I first called to set-up an appointment, they told me approx. 1+ hrs worth of work = $70-$80. In reality, it only took 1/2 hr and they charged me $31.80, including tax.

Honestly, it really seems to shift at more appropriate/optimal times - at more reasonable RPM. Speedometer is now correct also, according to my GPS.

I guess we'll see as times goes by... :)

I find this topic amusing. Jeep obviously isn't very strict with there speedo calibration. When I got the Jeep I always felt like I was going slow. I would drive by instinct on the highway and I'd look down and I'd be going close to 80. At 75 by the speedo I'd be getting passed left and right by anyone and everyone. I then got a gps for christmas sure enough it was off. Then I went from 235/70' to 245/75's and what do you know! Now my speedo is spot on with my GPS.
