Me: Whoa there big guy! If you look at pic #2 (the deleted one) you can seen the sign actually says that Shaffer Trail is closed due to winter driving conditions in 13 miles. The sign below it says the road is closed except 4WD or tire chains. Now, you may have never been to Canyonlands National Park in MOAB, but you can access the Shaffer Trail through the back gates via Potash Rd. This the the road we were taking when we came across this sign. The road was closed to anyone who had 2WD and no chains. Since this did not apply to us (the caption under the deleted picture). We proceeded up the road 13 miles to the closed gate at the Shaffer Trailhead. The pics I have posted of us wheeling in Canyonlands is actually all taken on Potash Road.
I am sorry that the captions did not make our trip clearer but I am glad we had a chance to chat about it. Hopefully, now you can enjoy my pictures without any worries that nefarious activities were being celebrated.

As the Rockies guys know, I am returning to Florida after a year of living in UT. I wanted on last time round MOAB before I left and durangotang was kind enough to meet me out here. Here are some photos of Day 1 Airing down before hitting Long Canyon. Yes that's two CRD's! Long Canyon is still a bit snowy. Dropping into a canyon on snow covered switchbacks is not for the faint hearted. The first right is hairy. Photo opp under the fallen rock. I am the better looking one. Solid ice! durangotang makes his way down with nothing between him and the allmighty except some stock Wrangler ST's I try to get down the ice too. I might have better tires, but what the hell does some dude from Ft Lauderdale know about driving on ice. The final .2 miles of Gemini Bridges. The trail book recommends walking it. Check out durangotang negotiate these ledges with stock tires, no lift, canary yellow skids and NO SLIDERS! Here's me trying my best Ted impersonation. Tomorrow, we're going to try "Top of the World" cause I am sure there wont be any snow or ice at 8000 ft.

WOW what a great way to have a send off. Looks like you guys had a blast. At first I saw Long Canyon and thought, well that wasn't to difficult, but then there was snow, ice and giant drop offs. That totally changed my outlook. Glad you had a great day. Can't wait to see more of you trip.

There is a lot of snow out there, especially in the shade. Where the snow is melting, the mud is thick and deep. It should be interesting during LOST Safari. BTW, I got the decal in the mail. First off, AWESOME pics!!! Secondly, I had a few questions for JL Rockies. What rear bumper is that? And, how happy are you with the FrankenLift II and 235/85/16 on stock wheels combo? I've been thinking the exact same combo may be in my future, although I'll probably go with either a BFG A/T or M/T. It looks like a very capable vehicle. How does it ride on the highway? Great looking rig and thanks in advance. Mike

The rear bumper is made by Rock Lizard Fabrications. The Frankenlift is awesome and the tire combination is great on the road and on rocks. Deep mud can become a problem due to the weight of the CRD and the skinny profile. I have never been stuck in mud, but it can become squirrely at times.
