Post subject: | Who has installed Daystar themselves?? |
I have a 1.5" front/2.0" rear Daystar lift coming soon. I'm going to attempt to install it myself. Can someone give me a quick idea of how the front is going to work? Does the spacer go on top of the coil, on the bottom, etc? What specific tool is it that I need to rent from Autozone to do this job? You don't have to tear down the struts for this lift do you? Sorry for the Qs...I have never had a suspension lift on anything before and I just want to know what to expect when I go to do the front spacer. The rear seems pretty straightforward. Also..how's the ride? Is the ride going to totally suck?? Someone told me it would... Thanks guys.. |

Is your kit all eurethane spacers? If so, it is like Daystar's original 2" lift kit. The rear is easy, jack up the jeep put on jack stands, you will need to dissconnect stock shocks, top or bottom bolt, your choice. then jack up on one side of the rear axle, then pop the spacer under your spring. (be sure to remove the factory spring isolator thin rubber pad on spring perch and keep it in case you ever want to upgrade to a full spring lift). The front, you need a strut compressor/Spring compressor (depends where you get it from what they call it) You will need to dissassemble the strut, then put the spacer on the bottom spring back on, then assemble the strut. This will be a pain, sorry. Be sure that you mark the spring to help you line the top plate back up with the clevis line on the bottom of the strut. when you take it off the truck, you will understand what I mean. |
