Post subject: | RRO 2.5" OTT Lift |
I don't know much about lift kits at all, but I would like to install one on my KJ. I have been looking at the 2.5" OTT lift at Rocky Road. If I decide to get this lift is there anything else I am going to need to buy? Shocks, struts, etc? How difficult of an install would it be if I decided to do it myself (I am fairly mechanically abled)? I am not looking for step by step instructions, but more or less some opinions of people who have installed a similar kit. Thank you all for your help. |

I've E-mailed rocky on this a moment ago also the rockfather I with the same question . As far as how hard it is to install it should be fairly simple . I will say I just put a Fab-tech 6" suspenion in my brouthers and it was not the funnest thing , that was more than gust a coil and some spacers to . let ya know what RRO says.

|

Thank you all for your help. I don't have a lift on my KJ, but I'll spare everyone the trouble by saying: Every time someone posts about the OTT kit the whole community flips. Apparently this kit causes all sorts of problems and can make suspension parts die early. Try a different kit |

Try a different kit Yeah, i hear their Combo Kit is good, just stay away from the OTT kit... From what seems to be the consensus here is Rusty's Coil kit is the best bang for the buck, and the best overall is the Frankenlift. |

i shouldn't admit this but i have the OTT and haven't changed.. i know my post count isn't much. but i used to be on the old site.. i have had my OTT on now for 3 years.. besides the banging going over bumps.. i have had no problems.. i am not the biggest wheeler but i still like to go out when i have the chance or even (hate to say this) go muddin .. im runin 265's at that too.. and i haven't done the clevis lift.. i would change if i had the chance but i am lucky to have what i have on my jeep . poor college kid. all i want to say is that some people have problems with the OTT and some don't |

From their website, they sure seem to hype the OTT up a lot. Am I going to notice a big difference between the 2.5" lift and the 2.125"? It seems like it is a significant difference, but maybe not. How difficult is the installation of these kits? Has anybody done one for themselves that can offer any feedback? |
