What do you guys pay for labour rates at your local garages? Our area averages from a low of $80/hr to as much as $125/hr at dealerships.

The local shops around here are around $65-80.

The dealers are more but I think (not positive) that they are around $85-90. The last time I was there was for a warrenty repair.

I am pretty far from NYC and I know for sure that they are more when you get down there.

I don't know of anybody in this area as low as $80 any more. The cheapest I have found is $95 per hour. This is one reason I'm learning to do my own work, as much as I can anyhow.....

man you guys are getting the shaft
the average is about $65 an hour and for most 4X4 type stuff they have a "set rate"
like gears in a solid ,non IFS, rig $300 per axle cash and pay tax if you use a credit card
locker only $250 same tax deal
Gears and locker $300 per axle
and $50 less if you pull it and he can do it on a bench
also I can get a drive shaft cut or made longer for around $100 + joints
heck even tire work is cheeper $10-$15 up to 33's and $5 more up to 37's
over that it depends

I just had a muffler installed on my 05 KJ and the guy quoted me a minimum of $75 over the phone and said that was their hourly labor rate. Well, after they had my Liberty for near 3 hours I got it back and they only charged me $64. It blew me away. I guess it was just sitting there for most of the time and they knocked the muffler out in like 30 minutes or something. But as far as other places in town, I know the hourly rate hovers somewhere around $80. I think my experience at Mr. Z's Muffler is an abnormality and most likely will never happen to me again.
