Does anyone on these boards know if the select-trac and command-trac transfer cases are interchangeable? I do alot of snow driving and I was thinking about upgrading to a select-trac if I could find one for a decent price, that way I could kick it into full time 4hi and I would feel comfortable driving uphill on a partly icy or snowy winding road on the way to all of the ski resorts I plan to visit this winter... 8)

Thanks. -Nate

It makes sense that they would be interchangeable, they fill the same space :-p

You shouldn't have to change out though. I only have the part time option and I engage 4 hi in any kind of rain/snow. I do only have 48K on my '02, so maybe I just haven't worn anything out.

You should be more than fine on icy/slushy roads. The slippery/slick surfaces are what the part-time was created for. Rain on the other hand, might be a little too solid; but I'm using it anyway. I'd much rather break something than get in an accident!

I think some folks have swapped out Selec for Command (beefier off road ability I'm told).

I love my Selec-Trac for those reasons. Don't have to worry if road is slippery enough.

And frankly, the open center diff will help you stay on the road around turns by not inducing wheel spin around those tight turns.
