Post subject: | Getting the right advice... lift |
Hi, All I'm looking for advice since I'm fairly new to any sort or car modding. I have an 2006 2.8 CRD Sport that I would like to lift. I'd like to be able to get as much lift as possible without compromising the CV joints (since this is still a daily driver). I'm not part of any wheeling club (as of yet ![]() From what I could gather from browsing the forum: front: Lift: CRD Frankenlift II + Brake relocation braket. (Considering Clevis Lift also) A-Arms: Al-s Upper Arms (Gen5) LBJ: Moog greasable lower ball joints Brakes: Redo front brakes. (rotors and pads) Rear: Lift: CRD Frankenlift II I need advice on the following points: 1. I heard of Clevis rings, where do we get those? 2. Need help on designing the proper lift for the rear? 3. If I trail much in the rocks will I eventually kill my CV joints anyways and invalidate the worry of keeping very safe CV angles? __3a. Would going to a custom shop for CV drive shaft fix the (keep your CV angles low, worry)? __3b. Would an other lift be a better choice taking these new factors in consideration? 4. I have no clue on how long it will take me to do all that work (Buddy + Me, he's a car mech. I'm not)? I thank any comment in advance... and greatly appreciate the time taken to help me out on these matters. |

For CRD owners the Frankenlift is the way to go , or you could just use the OME springs and piece it all out. JeepinBy Al just released this morning the info on Gen 4.5 arms go for those as the 5s will hit the top of the pocket where they hit. If you get the Frankenlift front and rear is included so you don't have to worry about getting anyhting for the rear. If you are doing the Frankenlift I would not do the clevis as it may put you up too high , run it for a while and see where it sits then you can add later. Oh and the clevis is done with conduit nuts (2 inch) that are available in most hardware stores in the electrical section |

Not planning on using the Frankenlift I, I was wondering if the clevis lift + Frankenlift II (front) was gonna be too high compaired to the rear. I see people are using rear isolators, could anyone post a pic. of an isolator installed so I can see where it goes in the whole rear suspension assembly. or any explanation would help. Thx for info Tom |
