I finally ordered my Frankenlift II premium lift today from Marty. I cannot wait to get it on my kj. It will go great with my newly ordered 31X10.5X15 Trxus Super Swampers and black steel wheels. I am so pumped! I debated about just getting Rancho shocks and struts but I really have been impressed with everything said about OME and figured since it is my DD I had better go for it. I will post pics of it ASAP! :D :D :D :D

go with something like 240-245/70(maybe 65)R16, pound the pinch, trim, take it easy stuffing, turning tight... and they won't look too shabby when you lift it, either.

both those sizes fit EASILY beneath a stock unlifted KJ....you need something way bigger for steelies and a FLII. I have 245/70s on my stock height KJ and it doesn't even come near to rubbing with nothing pounded or trimmed, even at full lock or stuffed.

I went with the heavy duty springs. I figured I can always ad bumpers that way.

Congrats! My Frankie and my new black steelies are sitting in my garage waiting for me to decide-on/buy tires and find time to install it all. The anticipation is KILLING ME!!!

I'm going to have to check out those 31X10.5X15 Trxus Super Swampers.

I have heard great things about the tires. The only negative I have heard is they are hard to balance. So we'll see I guess, but I will post pics and let you know what I think. I can't imagine having a lift and wheels in my garage and no tires. I would loose it. It is going to be hard enough waiting the couple of days for my lift while I have my tires and wheels waiting.

I got mine (set of 4 tires and wheels) from jcwhitney.com. They were $796 delivered to my door including mounting and balance. Not too shabby I think. Now I just need a 5th for a spare.

Ok, now that I know you're running HD coils, I can easily say 245/70R16s will fit. Yes you can run them without a lift but, my MT/Rs rub while backing up at full left lock (lifted 2.5" and pinch weld pounded) so I hesitate to recommend this size for unlifted KJs, even though I know that it works with most tires (I really don't think it would work with Goodyear MT/Rs, though). I really think something like 245/65R16 or 240/75R16 would be better for someone getting a lift but not able to afford tires for awhile yet. Finding something worthy in these sizes can be a PITA though so we do what we have to... which might mean limiting our Jeeps to dirt 2-tracks and minor flexing until we get that lift, sometimes) so read a little more and decide what you want your Jeep to do.

I am going to run 31/10.5/15 tires not the 245/70/16. I pounded the pinch welds down and I am waiting to see about the front bumper before I chop it. I assume you were referring to me because you quoted me. Sorry if you weren't :?

Wow, don't know where my head is tonight... The tires are a bit wider than most run but, at worst you might have some minor rubbing at full lock, which most Jeepers can deal with (you'll get to know how far you can turn before you rub, if it does rub)... assuming those 15" wheels clear the calipers to begin with.

Yeah, the wheels clear. checked and rechecked. I'll chop where necessary to rid it of rubbing, where possible anyway.

Those should be fine, actual measurement is 31.3" x 10.2" just a bit narrower than my 265's. Mine are 0.7" taller than yours, I'm sure that you will have to trim a bit, but they'll fit with out to much work.

I thought 265/75/16 tires were 31.6/10.4/16, at least that is what my pro comp tire calculator told me when I was researching tires before I decided.

I don't think I've ever seen a tire that measured exactly what they say they are on the sidewalls. Mine are 31.9" x 10.43.

**Edit, just noticed that I typed 1.7" earlier, was thinking 1", though it was actually just .7". Mucked it up when I typed. Corrected now.

I'd be putting some big bumpstops in the rear with that wheel and tyre setup if the FLII doesn't already come with some, other wise you'll probably start ripping off the rear flares when flexing. The tyres may not be as tall as 265/75/16's but, I take it you have your rims like mine with far less backspacing to clear the calipers, so the tyres sit further out, thus contact the flares more.

I run 31/10.5/15s myself, heres what I did, It's prolly a little hard to make out, but you can see the bumpstop at the bottom of the rear coils attatched to the coil perch.

And heres a write-up of the whole install of the coils and shockies.

Yeah, I talked to Marty about adding bumpstops, and I most likely will just get 2 hockey pucks for each side and bolt them to the coil perch. Unless someone has any info on a quality bumpstop for the FrankieII.

What are most people using?

Daspes,
I agree, even two of the same tires don't always measure exactly identical. So someone's 31/10.50 might be almost as big as a 265/75 in one brand but not even close in a different brand.
