Post subject:  Speedometer calibration...
I have a 2005 Limited CRD. Within the next 2 weeks my Daystar lift will be installed and new 245's sneakers as well. My problem is here in Maine, I have to carry a certificate stating that my speedometer has been re-calibrated for the over size tires. HELP...... I hear the a Jeep dealer can plug in and select the larger tire size and my local dealer has never heard of such a thing. I hear change a gear, but I believe it is electronic... Can anyone please enlighten me with the truth? Someone here has to have done this before.
Maine has soooooo many stupid laws on the books for a state that is over 90% uninhabited :!:

In a nutshell, the 2005 liberty uses a electronic sensor on the rear axle that sends its signals to the BCM (Body Control Module). From there the speed signal is determined by the computer and output to the rest of the vehicle....unless you have ABS brakes. For a liberty with ABS (03 and up) the speed is determined from each of the individual wheel speed sensors.

In my case, I do not have ABS but the dealer swore I could not do it. It can be done see below:

Here is the excerpt out of a 2005 FSM. I don't know if it will work the same if you have ABS. Someone else will have to chime in on that one.

I agree with fastrob, find another dealer (if you can). This should be a relatively simple item for a dealer to perform, plenty of folks here on the board have had their BCMs adjusted for larger tires. Of course since it's a Jeep will they even know it came with smaller tires to begin with? :D
