Post subject:  A/C question...

Hey all, I'm having an issue with the way my KJ runs when I turn on the A/C.... It runs great when it's off, but as soon as I turn it on it starts to run rough. I expected some power lose but this is more of a hesitation an hunting for the right gear or something. I can be cruising down the road at a constabt speed an every once in awhile it'll almost buck lightly or something... This only happens when the A/C gets turned on, is anyone else having a similar issue or is this normal for a kj? Is this something I should have checked at the dealer, it's already going in soon to have the windows fixed so I could have it checked then...oh this is the first time i've used the a/c in it only had it since december....

I just recently had the same problem .. I barely ever use my ac ... i took it to my friends shop and my problem was that the clutch was sticking. He did something to unstick it and no problems since. He didn't charge me but it only took him about ten minutes. Might want to start there! Best of luck

If it just feels like the Jeep is missing once in a while then yea, it sounds like its just the compressor kicking on.

Mine does it everytime I use the A/C and always has.

I have experienced this too. As long as your air is getting good and cold, I don't think you have a problem.

I'm not sure if you got it used, but when buying a used vehicle from a small dealer (the ones that don't really have mechanics), they may have been temped to "top it off" as to do you a favor when it is already fully charged. In reality, they overcharged your system and among other things, creates the situation you describe as well as not so cool air. (Sound far fetched? It happened to me!)
