They will charge you by what Mitchells repair guide says it takes, doing it per service manual,so it could cost several hundred $$$ in labor alone.

Now Jayme, if your husband were to walk into the room and say, “Honey, that $50 oil pan will cost us $15,000 to replace, but at least you’ll now have a SFA on your KJ.” Would you be:

B) Upset

Um, $15K. I wouldn't allow it. Eugene cost us $12K when we got it.

If SFA were to ever happen it would be done at home without paying for labor. I hate paying to have a vehicle worked on. I get such satisfaction out of doing a job, then calling up the dealer/shop and asking what they would charge.

Did that with Green and Grumpy recently. Replaced Green's fuel pump with a new Delphi unit $278 online. Grumpy's fuel pump was rebuilt with a $30 kit ($5 shipping) bought on eBay. Dealer wanted almost $900 parts and labor. Saved over $1400 between the two vans.

I've seen a few guides that list a workaround instead of lifting the engine. I haven't tried yet but will post if it's successful or not. My pan on my '02 Liberty 3.7 Limited is rusting out and has a fairly decent leak right now. Side note, apparently this works for the 2WD model. Given that I have no impact it's unlikely that I'm removing the drive assembly.
