Post subject:  Probably 1 of the most ask questions?
I have a 04 Liberty Columbia and I wanted to know what is the best lift for the money to go with, as well as a tire choice? (As large of tire as I could go with lift with the stock rims maybe also with wheel spacers)
I want a tread that is best for road driving, but hopefully decent off road during the limited times that I will be off road.
Also, how do I recalibrate the speedo with larger tires?

Welcome to LOST Jeff.

Tires; Firestone Destination A/Ts in 245/75 16. I run them in 70 profile on an unlifted Jeep and they are great.

Lift; I am saving my pennies for the Frankenlift, which is based around the OME springs and Rancho or OME shocks. Straight OME springs with OME shocks or Rancho shocks are a solid second choice. I am sure another member from Ohio will confirm this. :D

If you do not have skid plates or tow hooks yet, I woulld make those my first purchases, then tires, unless the tires need to be replaced right away. You will use / need the skid plates and tow hooks a lot more than the lift.

Sure..... I will be that member from the Great State of Ohio to show and tell you the way!

OME Heavy Duty springs with Ranchos shocks/struts are a great choice $650 or so.
Frankenlift is the best but of course but lots more money but you get what you pay for. :wink:

Tires.... the Firestone Destination ATs are a good tire, ran them in the 245-70X16 when I was stock!, I am running Kumhos now and they are a great all around tire and resonable.

What part of Ohio are you from? I have done several lifts here so if you need any help, let me know.

There are cheaper lifts out there but you get what you pay for.
Oh and a truck driver, used to run a long nose Pete with a flatbed!

OME HD coils, I have it and I LOVE it!! the ride is awesome and you can get 3" from it w/o any problems

Another vote for OME. The OME HD's are incredible. Just depends on how much you want to lift, and how much you want to spend. I have the Frankenlift II Premium with OME HD springs, struts, and long travel shocks with Al's upper arms. Wasn't cheap, but I love it.

I've run the Destination AT's in a 245/65R17 and they were very good tires for the money. I like my 245/75R16 Silent Armors better, but they are more expensive, and heavier so they have worse gas milage. With a 2.5" lift the biggest tires you can easily run are 245/75R16's.

Granted i have no experience with any other lifts.. i would def. recommend the frankenlift. a bit heavy on the wallet compared to others but i have 15,000 outstanding, perfect, care-free miles out of my franky. plus i could not possible ask for better performance offroad. I also would recommend BFG KO AT tires (again i'm a little bias since they're the only ones i have experience with) I use my liberty to go 3 hours each way back and forth to school so on road was important in my tire choice... as well as snow since we get a lot of lake effect from Erie. plus offroading with them is GREAT! size wise. 265/75's require a lot of trimming and 1.25in wheel spacers (on stock wheels) 245's will fit easily with a franky.

I have had the Jeep for a couple years, but now that is getting to the point that it will need tires I figured it is the time to add the lift. I know I have seen lift kits at all different prices on ebay so I didnt know what was best.
Also,
How much if any will it stiffen up the ride. I dont know if all stock Libertys are the same, or if the "trail rated" has a different set up, but mine has a very firm ride now.

Oh, and Tom, I,m in Mercer County. inbetween Dayton Oh. and Ft. wayne in.

Hey Jeff we have quite a few people down your way. Check out the MIdwest forum here. Do you ever get up this way when youre truckin? If so let me know will let you drive mine and see how it does. OME HDs are firm but way better ride than stock for sure. Mines been lifted for over 70,000 miles been to Orlando twice, Boston 6 or 7 times, down into Ky and Tn. so lots of road miles and also wheeling, if I had to start building a new one , first purchase ( after skids ) would be OME springs
Oh and stay away from eBay lifts, most are not worth buying. I can give you a complete parts list if you need when you get ready! Maybe even get a lift party together for you !

I have an 04 jeep liberty. The reason I'm posting in this topic is because it seems to be the closest to my question and I'm not even sure how to creat a topic. I'm looking to beef up my kj a little bit with a lift kit and some bigger tires. I am also looking at rims. My question is gas milage. Right now I'm getting between 17 and 18 mpg. I just want an idea of what its gonna be after a 2.5 lift and bigger tires. And I was also wondering if steel or alloy wheels make a defference because there is a huge price difference in the two. And if anyone has a tire recomendation for me because I want some tires that will fill up my wheel welds but not cost a fortune. I'm on a tight budget.

Kumho KL78's are a great tire for the money.

IF your factory springs are Ok very doubtful on an '04 unless they have been swapped) you can do a daystar spacer lift for $150-$200. Otherwise, you could get a set of front/rear OME spirngs, a top shim plate from any number of sources, and an extra isolator or two on the rear for a very capable lift. with shocks f/r you are probably looking at $700.

If you just want to fill the wheel wells switch to 245/70/16 tires and leave the lift off. Save the cash unless you need to lift for off-road, IMHO.

Cheapest rims are stock rims. Lower weight alloy wheels effect MPG less than heavier steel rims

i bought the medium but it is not here yet but am i still going to get the same amount of lift as you even though i bought the medium right

When looking at mods, would/should air intake, exhaust come into the discussion. Stock Renny here trying to prioritize as well.

Wow, now this is digging up an old thread.

As far as Air Intake and exhaust, check out the 4x2 and Performance Mods section. Lots of info on what others have tried and recommend.
