I have a 2005 CRD with the 2nd gen "smart" airbags with pressure sensitive triggers in the front passenger seat. The problem I have is that my wife is really petite and weighs 80-85 pounds. Seems the sensor is too stiff to trigger the airbag in her seat to arm. The "airbag off" light is always illuminated. Is there any way to get this reset or a new lower pressure switch put in?

There is a reason your wife doesn't trigger the airbag to turn on. it would be dangerous for it to do so.

Exactly.. For someone that doesnt weigh enough or is to short the air bag can actually injury them.

This is why they put sensors in the seats. Not saying your wife is a child but this is also why they always said the back seat is the best place for kids. :)

Yeh, she's no child believe me  !!! LOL!!! She's 22yr old and 4'10". So there's no worries then, I guess the sensors are doing what they are supposed to do.

Old enough to say this will be the 4th Presidential election I will take a part of and been eligible to vote in. So lets see if the math professors can figure out the range of age I might be.

According to the service manual, the sensors are designed to include everybody weighing more than a 5th percentile woman. That excludes 5% of the female population. A 5% woman weighs 105 pounds, so everyone that weighs less than that will trigger the airbag to be off.

The air bags are turned off for a reason, and its not based on age. Your wife's weight and height are similar to a child's, and it may be safer for her to ride there with the airbag off. I wouldn't worry about it, and leave it the way it is.

You would have had to be 18 by the end of 1996, so the youngest you could be now is 29 (30 by December 31, 2008) and assuming you weren't eligible in your fifth election because you weren't old enough, the oldeest you could be 32 (33 on January 1, 2009).

If you weren't eligible to vote for anoter reason, is 110 years old.
