Both of my headlight lenses have faded. Only on the top side. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to fix them?
Thanks |

Check your local auto parts store(Checkers-Advanced...etc) most all sell a headlight lense restore kit. |

Mine are only just starting to haze at the top and curious how to fix and prevent further damage too. So where are those auto detailers when you need them?! Sure the answer could be found on one of those auto detailing forums too. |

There is a thread on, maybe someone can post a link, that shows how to clear up the lens. It's just a matter of buffing out the tiny scratches that make the haze. Terry |

Its actually really easy. I've done it a few times before with different vehicles. I use Mothers plastic polish because it's easy to find, but you can use any polish. You just wipe the dust, dirt, mud, ect. off of the lenses and get to polishing. Start with small circles and go larger as you progress. You'll have to spend at least ten minutes on each one. (or more) As a matter of fact I'm about to go grab a beer right now and produce some before and after pictures. |

Well I started with the lenses installed but ended up taking them out to put them in my lap. I only spent about 10 minutes on this one because the nicks and scratches were a little deeper than I expected and I wasn't trying to spend to much time on them. Required tools. Feel free to insert your beer into your own teams coozie.
Before
During
Taking off the lens makes it easier to polish.
A T-20 torx bit is what my 2002 needed for all screws. The smaller screws or for the front grill, and the bigger ones are for the headlight. It only takes a couple of minutes to remove the grill and head light. You may need a flat head to unclip the bulb.
After
From what I can tell, the aerodynamics of the jeep must force all dirt and debris right onto the top portion of the lens. You can still see where the scratches are in the pics, but then again I only spent 10 minutes on it. Not too bad for such a short time. You'd be surprised what you could do if you bring your headlight on the couch with a towel, some rags and some polish. Just watch a movie and polish. I did that with my Tahoe and they almost looked new again. I say almost because some lenses get a yellow tint to them and there's nothing you can do about that. I hope this motivates someone to break out the polish. |

looks good! that's a pretty big difference for a small amount of time.... however i think the 10 mins would've been better spent on the fog lights |
