So, about a month back, I took my tow hooks off to paint them. I Set them and the mounting hardware in a very safe place, you know so I wont loose anything... And, now, I lost the mounting hardware. Thankfully I called a local mechanic that works only on Jeeps, and he said he will fix me up, and even re-mount them, for about $20. Not bad eh? Considering it would take me at least a hour to figure out how the hell they go back on, $20 is a steal, even if I had the parts :) Lets hope all goes better on monday when I am replacing the muffler

Murphy's Law....you will find the hardware the minute you have the tow hooks installed and you pull into the garage.

Also....look where you think you have no doubt that they are not there. They will be there.

If you are married, go blame the wife. She no doubt threw them away and violated the Man Cave rules.

So much for $20 15min  So, it seems I didn't loose all the mounting hardware. The clips that go into the frame rails are still there, except one of them is lost inside the rail. The mechanic told me he would have to take the bumper off, the bump stops, and fish it out. He told me it wont cost me more than $120 but I think I will spend a afternoon and do all that myself. $20 was fine, $120, thats a bit much.

I'm still trying to figure out what clips you are talking about. 1 straight bolt and 1 M bolt per hook is all there is if you are using factory tow hooks. :?

How did you manage to mount them without taking the bumper cover off? Dont you need to get in the frame rails just to attach the clips?

My mistake, I keep calling the m bolt a clip.

mines an 05 so all I had to do was trim out the notch on the bumper and get under there and install them. M bolt snakes through from hole to hole if you do it right.

Are the 05 and 06 alike as far as the hooks go?

X2. Mine's an 06 and I started to take the bumper cover off, then I thought the heck with it. I will at least try it without first and I had them all on and torqued down in about 30 minutes. It took a few extensions and universal joints to get the socket on the back ones, but I managed.

Just to kick a dead horse... I'm finally going to do this on Saturday with some help. Now I've found the guides on how to take the front bumper off, but I'm curious how long you think it really takes? A buddy of mine told me he used to have a truck that he had to take the quarter panels off to get the bumper off, and it took him 8 hours :| So he doesn't think this would be a quick job lol... I'm thinking once I get the bumper off (maybe a hour?) the challenge will really be getting the m-bolts out right?

And once the bumpers are off, I need to get rid of the frame rail ends and them fish out the m-bolt. Sweeet.
