A few years ago, before the CRD Frankenlift, the best way to lift a CRD, was to use a daystar lift kit with OEM springs, why on Ebay the daystar lift is marked as not CRD compatible? I want to go these route as a set of OME springs are $600 + struts and socks $800 + instalation. claudio |

They started that because people were tearing the CV boot when they tried to install the strut assembly. they now recommend the shorter lift. but lots of people are running the 2 1/2" lift - just be very careful on the install. |

I've been running the Rocky Road 2.125" lift for a couple of years with no problems. Its the 2" Daystar lift with a 1/4 inch top of strut plate. http://www.rocky-road.com/kjsus.html |

Why would you say to stay away from the Daystar? I'm running a Daystar list and Rancho's all the way around on my CRD and have had no problems whatsoever. I've had it up and down the majority of the difficult Moab trails and all over CO without any issues. I wouldn't have any problems recommending that setup if you can't afford the OME stuff. |

Yeah I reconed that post was to short... I am not talking about the 2.5" daystar lift with the extended topplates and bumbstops etc (although Daystar tech says its not suited for a CRD just go for it, it does work) I am talking about the 1,5"front / 2"rear spacer kit. That kit gives you .75" front spring spacers and 2" rear spacers. So as logic and mathametics will show us your car will be nose down after fitting this so you need a clevis lift. No problem there, just level it. So now we compressed the front springs up to a point that you just might as well put some 2x4's on the front. Yes, that rock hard. Being nicely overcompressed the springs will start to sag soon and then you get spring binding, making things even worse. I want to kick myself for ever buying this stuff, I was to thickheaded to take some good advise and did it anyway. Blew the LBJ's 2 times already...now I am at a point of taking the pucks out, but I am afrait the OEM springs are so worn down my tires will rub without them. Waiting on my OME rear springs and then they are a goner. I did hear they work good on a gasser KJ though. If you have the time you may find some used OME coils somewhere for little money. You'll be much happier with those...And there is a RRO CRD kit for sale by Incommando, see the forsale section. He wants $300 for it, brandnew and comes with OME 790 springs! BTW: if you do go the Daystar route you still need longer rear shocks like the Rancho 17004's. And rear bumpstops. |

Bad, very bad idea friend. Those RS9000 things have a plastic nob on the bottom of the shock to adjust them, almost impossible to reach on a KJ. Get the RSX series, they have autovalving and so automaticaly adjust themselfs. The rears: they will fit but now how to get to that adjuster nob. The fronts:Unless you have a SFA mod done to your KJ you can never ever fit those front shocks. Here's what they look like under a Ford F350 Superduty (for which they are made): 
Rancho has only one model of front shock for the KJ, the RSX 17505. Now on a side note: how did you get your winch fitted in that position?? |

http://www.rocky-road.com/kjsus.html The front RRO 2.125" consists of a 3/4" Daystar poly spacer under the coil and a 3/8" steel top spacer plate. The rear has a 2 1/2" poly spacer under the rear spring. Just add your choice of Dodge Durango rear shocks for the 2.5" extension difference for the lift kit. I ran this kit over 4 yrs. with no problems, until I upgraded to OME 790's and 948's this past March. Purchased Oct. of 03 just before the first Sky Jacker spring kits came out. This kit does not compress the front springs as much as the 2.5" poly Daystar kit. |

I'm not going to leave the plastic knob i will upgrade to in-cab adjust, this way i can adjust the shock from the cab, it has a litle compressor to put air and modify the ride of the shock. Take a look at the rancho website, they list 9000XL series for the front and for the rear of the liberty. ..on the winch side, i had to build a support for the winch and cut a little of the plastic bumper  .

I installed the Daystar 2.5" lift on my CRD and am quite pleased with it. I also installed a set of longer Rancho rear shocks. I did leave the origional rear coil spring isolator in place when I installed the Daystar spacer. This kept the rear a tad taller than the front as it is stock. <<<DO BE CAREFUL OF THE CV BOOTS THOUGH WHEN INSTALLING THE FRONT STRUTS>>> Cover the boots with several heavy shop rags. I also removed the rear sway bar for better articulation

Yesterday I went shopping on ebay and I get the daystar 2.5", now i have to wait 15 days to get to Chile  I'm soooo exited!!
