Post subject:  front suspention making noise
when i go over any bump, my front suspention makes groaning sqeak. i've only heard this one time when the wheels didnt go over the bump at the same time. it ususally happens when both tires go over. this just started happening this week. does any one know what it cold be?

Grease or spray the hell out of the sway bar bushings with a silicone spray and that will work for a while. Everyone gets it when the weather starts getting cold. Matter of fact...time to go do mine!

DO NOT TAKE THE FRONT SWAY BAR OFF!!! :shock:

Just get a can of white lithium grease and spray them really good. While your at it spray the hood latch, door hinges, liftgate latch. Wear safety glasses because I nearly blinded myself (using a spray straw) when it splattered into my eyes.

You can take the rear torsion bar off without any ill-effects and you will get a little more flex. The front, as mentioned above, is a different story. JBA sells quick disconnects if you wanted to go that route. Take them off when you are wheeling and then put them back on when you drive home. Although, some on the forum question whether removing the front sway bar does any good for off-road use.

now when i turn my jeep on it makes a loud stupid noise. especially when i turn the steering wheel and accelerate. it goes away when the jeep's warmed up but it cant be normal.

Power steering pump, more than likely. When my KJ's started up in sub-30 degree temps, it makes a quick whirr...but you may want to check your fluid level, too. How many miles are on it?

My power steering pump was starting to howl in the cold last winter. I siphoned out the old fluid with a turkey baster, refilled with fresh fluid, and it's been fine ever since. Just another handy tip I learned here at LOST!!

Depending on the condition/color of the PS fluid I’d flush the PS fluid.
Note: there is no drain plug.

I had a similar problem as Maximum…Whenever I go over any type of speed bump my front suspension squeaks like CRAZY, so I took it into the shop yesterday as the mechanic greased the HELLLLL outta the bushings and he checked the ball joints and they were all fine, then finally we took a drive and went over some serious bumps and ditches but never any speed bumps. I thought it was fixed and all ready to go but this morning when I went over all 4 speed bumps at 7, 15, 10, 10mph and they all squeaked going that fast. Also the mechanic said it could just be the rubber upfront bc of it being so cold.

Anyone have any idea what it could be still?

Looks like ill probably have to go back to the shop

I would recommend either the Amsoil Power Steering Fluid or the Amsoil Transmission fluid for the Power Steering. Great stuff!

are you sure he greased the sway bar bushings? unless you added a zerk fitting, or he took the swaybar off and greased the bushings then this is probably why it is still squeaking. you need to find a speed bump or even drop off that both tires can go down/up at the same time to test it.

if all else fails you can try replaceing them with some from daystar. they are poly intead of rubber.

He just sprayed a bunch of grease all over the swaybar, I watched. He also sprayed my front axel near the tire.

I do go over speed bumps with my tires at the same time. When he had it up on the lift in the shop he started bouncing my front end up and down like crazy and there was no noise…..could it possibly be my UCA's? I only have 53500 miles on the jeep tho.

Same problem with squeaks and then turned to "clunk" sound. Tried spraying to stop squeaks but never really worked.Local shop, Ted Wein's 4x4, said upper A-arm bushings shot and shredded. Squeaks might mean drying and maybe greasing the hell out of them will prolong the life. For me it is too late and looking at $489 repair. No fittings I can see to properly grease anyway. Sounds like you are heading for similar repair. AS MOST WITH EXPERIENCE ARE ALREADY AWARE A-ARM BUSHINGS ARE NOT REPLACEABLE WITH 3.7. FOUND OUT A-ARMS BALL JOINTS ALL NEED REPLACING...CLOSE TO $900..DOES THIS SOUND ACCURATE?.. HEFTY REPAIR AT CHRISTMAS..HECK ANYTIME FOR THAT MATTER.

Your power steering pump sounds like it's on its last legs. Mine did what you described. I let it go for three weeks until it became stupid loud in the morning. I changed it and noise was gone.

Post subject:  Noise in front suspension
It could be your front sway bar bushing, try to lubricate them if not ,need to replace them.
It can also be your bushing on lower front suspension tab. Specialy if you hear a TOC ,TOC noise when you swing
the steering from left to right.Then need to replace them .
