Post subject:  ABS and Brake lights on simultaneously

My ABS and the brake light are coming on at the same time, has been happening for a long time and had it back to the dealers many times and have give up on them being able to fix it. Up until recently it was just the lights coming on and the brakes were fine but now I'm getting a pulse in the pedal as if the abs is trying to correct a skid, this is under normal braking not a panic stop. I was under the understanding that if were a sensor it would only bring up the abs light and not the brake light as well.
Any ideas???
Regards Ross.
PS: It's a '04 3.7 4X4

The brake light should be on if ABS is on. Does your odometer work when the ABS light and brake light are on? If so look to the rear differential sensor. The front ABS sensors could also be the problem. The pulse is the ABS system failing, after it shuts down the pulse goes away as does the ABS operation.

I had this problem when I first got my kj. My speedo quit working too. After a couple of trips to the dealer, they discovered a bad wiring harness...? It was replaced, and all was right with the world again.

I'll have to see if I can find the paperwork and tell you exactly what/where it was.

I am concerned that a wiring problem is part of my problems. I have been through 6 or 7 rear diff sensors. Would like to see what you find.

I have just had the rear sensor out and there was a fair bit of crud built up on the end of it where it is in the diff so cleaned it up and cleaned the contacts up, had to bend one pin in the sensor a bit as it did not appear to be making good contact with the female plug and took it for a short drive around town (small town) and all seems well, see how it goes on a longer drive. One interesting thing is that when I pulled the plug off and turned the ignition on only the ABS light came on and not the brake light, yet when it has been comming on when driving both of them come on at the same time.
