So I was banging on my Pinch welds today, and noticed something that I did not want to see on my Drivers side front driveline:

It seems like a slow leak, and have not noticed any drips on my garage floor or inside the skid plate you see there under the front diff.... It definately has an oily texture & smell... There is a slight bit of "in & out" play with the driveline, but no left & right/up & down play....

Ugh, this must be what I get for Frankenlifting my rig.... What's this gonna cost me to fix?

Ah, the sweet smell of gear oil just lingers in your nostrols, doesn't it? Keep tabs on your differential gear oil until you get a new axle seal in it.

Oh man, that would freakin' rawk if it was covered under warranty.... I have a feeling they'll gimme a hard time about the Lift though; probably try and tell me I have voided my powertrain warranty.... :x

They cannot void the power train warranty unless they can prove the lift can cause harm.

They can say a lift caused that leak since it most more pressure on the joint though..

My pinion seal has been leaking worse than that for awhile.

thearranty should cover it; i have a leak on my transmission plate, and they took it off, resealed, refilled and gave me a $25 gift card to use for anything... which i let expire b/c the stealership costs too much for everythin, and it was all covered under my warranty.

they even gave me a rental b/c it took 4 days to complete b/c they were so backed-up!

Chris, where did you get axle seals for $3.00?
I'm pretty sure mine were $13.88 ea. at NAPA.

I think he was exaggerating, but they are pretty cheap. The pain is the work trying to get that seal out, PITA! Mine took tools, cursing and bloody knuckles to get out. BUt I did it all myself and that is what makes it all worth while.

Have fun

Use a Burnomatic torch to heat up the diff (after you've drained it) and get a strong axle-seal puller. Think expansion :D

I guess if they try and argue that point, my rebuttal would be "if that were the case, then the passenger side driveline would be leaking too..."

The curved end of a crowbar worked for me. One little jerk and it was out.
