It's been cold today, and twice this morning I had to leave work. I left the Jeep in pt (we got four inches and roads hadn't been plowed) and both times the jeepwouldn't move and then kinda 'popped' and then moved. It's like something was froze and then started going. After that, its fine. No noises, shifting issues or anything. Just kinda strange...

Mine does that too sometimes and I have a 2WD. It only happens when it is cold. Typically overnight, but sometimes after sitting long enough for the engine and/or tranny to get cold. Then if I get in, start it, and throw it in gear immediately, it will not move and then pop into motion like you mentioned. I have found that if I give it an extra 10 seconds to get all the fluids pumping before putting it in gear, I never have a problem. My guess is that the ATF has drained down and has to be re-circulated before it will move...

Mostly likely water and slush freezing the brakes. Mine does that quite often in sloppy cold weather.... Once it breaks free it fine, right?

Mine happens when cold even in completely dry conditions.
