I want to add the trailer package to my o4 Sport. How hard is it to install the wiring and transmission cooler?

I recently installed the heavy-duty cooling fan, so that would be first step. Then you can add an extra transmission cooler. What are you wanting to tow? I also ordered the RL rear bumper with the built in hitch receiver.

I'm thinking of towing a adventure trailure. You stated a extra transmission cooler, Should I have one now? Looks like there is one. in front of the radiator.

If you have the off-road package, then you might already have the electric fan and the mechanical fan. But remember, a trail-rated badge and having 4 wheel drive does not mean you have the off-road package. Check for both fans. The adventure trailer might be light enough that it may not be a concern, however, if your electric fan ever fails (whish has happened to others on this forum) then you will be left with problems. Also, the engine temps can get warm when idling at low speeds and using 4 wheel drive, hence why the off-road package comes with the heavy duty cooling fans.

And yes, you might already have the transmission cooler. My 2007 KJ came factory with a trans cooler and I do not have the off-road package or the tow package.

Looks like I have one fan, Wish it had come with the off road package. So it would be a good idea to put a second fan in?

The real thing I like about the tow package is the PS cooler (that most KJ's have) It comes in handy when you are backing a trailer and constantly turning the wheel back and forth.

The mechanical fan helps the cooling because the electric isn't always running at low speeds. The electric fan runs off of the coolant temperature so having the extra fan is nice because it's constanly pulling a little air through all the cooling surfaces. Not a total requirement, but a very nice thing to have.

You should get yourself
Tow bar
Trailer brake module
Tranny cooler (if you don't have one already)
And then the wiring for your trailer (to include trailer brakes)

Anything over 3000 pounds will require trailer brakes in most states.
