Ok so bear with me on this one, the tech guys should know what I am talking about.

Fact: I got Koni front shocks, 3 of them in a very good deal.

Problem: 2 of them are used, one of them is new. Of the used ones 1 of them is making a very funny clunking noise so I don't want to use that one.

Problem 2: the new one is not the same as the used one...Koni puts it's faith in a sortof piston ring clip to hold the lower spring support plate, which seems kinda flimsy to me. I guess they counted on the clevis to hold the thing in place. Now on the new one I can get their intention, the clevis rests against the lower support plate and thats it (in the pic shock 2).

But the old one has a much bigger lower rim so the clevis doesn't rest against the support plate?

What do I do? Fit the old one (shock 1) on the left so I have a minimal clevis lift to level battery weight or do I grind a bit out of the clevis so it sits just like the opsite side against the lower spring support???

Sorry, no real pics, but here is a drawing.

Ok so I took some pics, maybe now someone can say if I'm right or not.

I'm thinking to fit a conduit nut (or two..or three if needbe) so the clevis rests against the lower support plate. I'll grind out the conduit nut to make space for the retaining clip.

Sound like a good idea to me.

Now you know why I needed conduit nuts.

Thanks Tom.

Yea, looks like they changed them a little.

You could grind it off but I dont think thats enough to really make a difference. Have you measured from the spring perch up to the top of the shock to see if there is a difference?

Yep, shocks are the same lenght, I just have that darn 2,5mm difference on the clevis side.

And I cannot grind the rim of the shock, otherwise the OME 927 will hit me very hard in the face :D :D :D

The best solution may be to buy a second new one... so that you have two that match.
might be more expensive - but it could still be the best.
