I've never had our plastic cowl off, but I don't believe there isn't any room in there for this type of setup.

yeah that might be a good idea if there is enough room. but i was also thinking about doing a whole snorkel out of some "HONDA" intake piping and painting it black. but i need to find the piping first :shock:

You'll have to get rid of your heater blower moter then....

There is a bunch of space on the driverside under the cowl...

Passenger side has the intake for the heater:

whats the advantage here? is it just to move your intake a little higher for better water crossing? maybe guess colder incoming air?

I'm worrying about rain on this one. At least on my pvc airbox tube i have a threaded female adapter for wet condition to keep water out of the intake.

I would say a lot of heat builds up under there in the summer.

I like the snorkal. Are they hard to install? is there a lot of cutting?

I planed to take a couple of hours to do it, it ended up taking all day. You have to cut a 3" hole in the fender plus some pilot holes for mounting. Then you have to cut kidney-shaped hole in the two layers of steel underneath the fender. The one under the hood is more difficult if your kit is missing the template (like mine) and then you have to cut into your airbox. You have to remove the factory intake and use the included hardware to plug the hole....... if the hardware included matches you hole in any way..... mine didn't so I fabbed a plug from star board.

I am glad I did it but plan on taking all day, pay the $75 for the plug since the outer template is not accurate and get yourself an airsaw with a couple of blades.

Jeepjeepster, the TEXAN air intake (shown above) is what I'm going to do, but the original poster is wanting an air intake that will stay dry in water conditions.

Thank you that definately on my list of things to do. First I got to skid and lift it.

Yea, 501 was asking about something like that though.. I should of quoted him when I posted that.

Ive also been worried about that. I asked if that may be a problem with that setup but everyone though it wouldnt. Going to give it a try and see how it goes.

Tommudd said he has a similar setup and hes never had a problem. Did that much rain really get into the air box and couldnt drain out quick enough?
