...i have an 03 and just noticed theres only one tow hook in the back, on the driver's side, that's odd. is that the way they came..stock? or maybe the previous owner had it yanked off?! |

That they way it should be. I suppose you can buy another one, drill/tap the holes and relocate the exhaust tip elsewhere if you really wanted to. |

yep just the one, unless you add a rear hitch then none but a better place to be pulling from |

i added another one.. no need to relocate the exhaust.. and it is mounted the same as the stock one only i added another bolt. so it's actually stronger than the stock one... i figured if on the trail and either i needed to be pulled or needed to pull someone from that side to prevent a roll over or damage.. it would be worth the 5 mins and $30 for another hook on that side plus it works real well to make a triangle with the strap to create a centered pulling point for your friends who think it's a good idea to tow them on sleds and snowboards when it snows

06, that looks sweet. I've been wanting to do something like this, but was considering fabbing something to have a couple shackles hang down. The 2nd hook looks really good tho. |

Always use only one hook/shackle mount to pull from. If you make a 'triangle' with a strap, not only will the forces be pulling towards the other vehicle (which is what the tow hooks were made to do) but you'll be pushing each of the tow hooks together, and they were not made to do that!! If you want to pull from more than one spot, use two straps of the same length and attach them to each hook, and then attach them to the same hook on the other vehicle. That will avoid the sideways forces on the hooks!! |

i only use the triangle to pull my friends on sleds / snowboards (like one friend sitting on a plastic saucer ) in the snow and icy back roads. It's nice because it keeps them centered behind the jeep instead of one side or the other. hahahaha dont worry i know proper pulling technique.. been helping operate my dad's towing business for the past 7 years |

Ahh, cool. I'm sure pulling people on a sled would be fine. I just didn't want you to try to pull someone out of the mud and have the hooks rip off!! |
