Clevis & Isolators Opinions

For those of you who have a Frankenlift installed, how much of a clevis lift did you go with and how many rear isolators did you use and what kind of stance did you get? I know from reading on the forum that every KJ seems to react a little different to the Frankenlift but I'm just trying to get an idea based on everyone's experiences. My main concern is that I don't want it to sit higher in the front than the rear.

Well here's my experience for you. I got the Franky 1 with HD coils, and I don't have a bumper or winch (yet). Well it sits too high in the front and does't allow for sufficient droop, which means that I get a loud bang anytime the front wheels need to drop off of something. (Upper A-Arm hitting the franky poly spacer bump stop.) If I could go back and do it again, I would probably just get the OME coils with the rancho shocks and call it a day. That way your front end would essentially be adjustable in height compared to the franky. If you ever want more height you could just add the conduit nuts and some rear isolators. If you plan on throwing a bumper on right away, the HD Franky would probably work fine since that's what it's made for. Oh and everyone say's that you don't need after market UCA's... Well you don't technically, because I've been riding on my stocks for several thousand miles, but I believe that the aftermarket ones would alleviate the banging I'm getting from the front. I'm hoping anyway; either way I'll be getting some shortly because I just don't trust the stock one's anymore. They're at a hard angle. Hope this helps you out.

Neither do you have the gasser Frankenlift....

Ditto, no banging after more than a year wheeling on it. Oh and mine is a gasser.

If i had to do it again i would consider getting the front only HD frankenlift and the rear jba 4" lift. I put 3 rear isolators in the rear and it barely clears my 32" tires. I may eventually upgrade to the rear jba 4". Oh, and i do not have a clevis lift in the front. There is really no need.

tip: when you install your aftermarket uca's make sure you flip the bolts and nuts around that hold the ball joint onto the arms so the nut is on top of the uca balljoint plate. It will clear the spring better that way.

Also, if your current a-arms are only hitting that rubber pad on the spring and do not contact the metal on the spring then it should not be that loud of a bang. You may also need to check other things like loose struts (top nut) or loose stabilizer bar.

Thanks for the tip with the ball joint. The passenger side spring has an area where the UCA has removed the powdercoat. The sway bar has been off and on a couple of times due to squeaking, so I'm sure it's good. I definately need to take everything apart and retorque everything; I'll probably do it when I get the UCA's.
