If your on a budget, look at the Daystar Spacer Lift, $155.
http://boulderbars.com/kjproducts.htm

Though the full suspension (spring vs spacer) lift is a much better route to go. Prices of lift's aren't very bad for a KJ. For about $600 you can do an OME or for around $800 you can throw on a Frankenlift. Those are the two best choices available.

Installation isn't difficult at all and can be accomplished at home with normal hand tools, you may have to rent a spring compressor though. Don't listen to a shop that has no knowledge of KJ's for any advice.

If you are just wanting bigger tires and a taller ride height, then the Daystar would be a good place to start. If you plan to put on a heavy aftermarket front bumper, winch, etc, save up and go with the OME HD springs to begin with. I put the Daystar on my 2007 Sport and it is only a 2WD. Did the install myself. There is a very easy to follow step-by-step how-to on here that shows you everything you need to do the daystar install yourself. Lots of us on here that will be happy to answer any of your questions.

Oh yeah, Welcome to LOST!

The standard lifts available for a Liberty - won't affect transmission or computer
due to the CV joints in the front - the common lift is 2 1/2"
now bigger tires will affect mileage (and you might be able to get a dealer to correct a computer to improve that)

any shop capable of putting in new shocks/struts -can put in a lift.
I'd really recommend the OME springs and Rancho struts - I think you can get the entire combo for around $600
don't know the install cost - but should be about 3-4 hours work on the front 1 on the rear * the hourly rate.

and you'll be higher - and the Jeep will ride better.

and then you can ask about tires - which is a whole different thread.

Most 4 WD shops have never worked on any KJ and are scared of it and want to charge a lot to do anything to them. Check out the Daystar lift, but replace shocks as well and bumpstops

Nope and nope.... Computer should be adjusted if you go to a larger size tire... Dealer can do it. Though most of us just do the math in our heads whil driving. My tire is 10% bigger, means I'm going 10% faster. 60 on the clock is actually 66, etc.

Check the local forums for your area, I'm sure some one who knows how can give ya a hand (lift party)
