If you have any info on a custom armor (including modifications to your existing aftermarket armor) or other armor available to the public, please post info on it. As a favor to those searching this thread will be cleaned of any "fluff" posts and only the informational posts will remain to make it easier to sift through for information. Thanxs!

***Mopar skids for anything older than 2005 are no longer available. The 2005+ skids WILL kind of fit on a 2002 - 2004, but you will have one hole not line up on the front skid (in the back drivers side) and one not line up on the Front drivers side (same hole) of the transmission skid, and the back passenger side of the transmission skid (and the matching hole on the t-case skid). So you will need to drill out two holes to make them work. The metal drilled pretty easy though.

Carolina Rockshop makes some rock rails for the KJ, i believe dog party has them on his rig or someone out east has a set on their rig.

yes thats true, also if I remember correctly they just weld on the legs to the unibody, which is only 1/16" and have no bolts in the pinch weld.

I read somewhere that Poison Spyder was going back into business so their rear diff cover for the Corp 8.25 might be coming back along with other stuff.

I have the Carolina Rock Shop rails on mine. They have holes for hardware, but I had mine tig welded on. There are no pinch weld provisions, but I can honestly say that none are needed on mine. I can jump up and down on them and they don't give. The entire Jeep bounces. I have jacked the side of the Jeep up using them and a high lift and I very often use the mounting tubes (that run to the frame) as a place to put the jack stands. They are solid. I did bend one of the tubes that stick out of the side (for extra body protection), but the bend is very slight and you have to look at it just right to see it. The main slider has been abused and shows no damage other than scratches.

So, I have come down on a rock hard enough to bend the outer tube without ANY damage to the pinch weld. Mine are mounted with the mounting tubes right up against the pinch weld. I asked the guy welding them for me if he thought I should cut the pinch weld in a slight arc and push the tubes up against it and weld them to the pinch weld. He assured me that it wouldn't be needed, that they would be plenty strong enough. I have to agree after abusing them :)

Now the bad news. I don't think Andy makes them any more. I think CRS closed doors and Andy is working at another shop. PLEASE correct me if anyone knows for sure or if this has changed again. I think he still does some stuff on the side in his spare time though and he may make some on request.

So will the 02-04 skids fit the 05+??? Also is it just the renegades that come with skids or all models? What would it take to fit 03 skids to an 05?

I know the 05 skids fit on a 04 with a little modification. Just cut a couple of tabs off and drill a hole or two.

They've been back in business for a few months now under new ownership, but don't look for KJ items anytime soon.

Anyone have experience with those aluminum skids? I wonder if they are worth the weight savings.
