Post subject: | Bumper mount fog lights |
Hello Everyone, I want to mount a set of Hella 500's on the bumper of my 05 CRD and I have located a good position to allow for adjustments and easy access to the mounting bolt on the underside. I am not sure how to deal w/ the space between the cover and the actual bumper. How have those of you who have mounted lights on the bumper delt w/ this problem. Should I drill an oversize the hole in the cover and add a spacer, or what have you found to work for your installation. Please excuse me if this topic has been covered in detail but, I've searched the archives but this particular problem does not seem to have been addressed directly. Thanks for your input Craig |

This is from Tommudd.... "1 inch out from the grill 3.5 inches from where the bumper dips down towards the center should be about the right spot that will drill down through the frame and you can reach up through from the bottom and put the nut on" |

Hi Tom, Thanks. I have located the spot but there is a space between the cover and the bumper itself. If the bolts are tightened the cover will compress and distort around the area. Has everyone else just lived w/ that or did they use some sort of spacer??? |

If you can get your hands in there(not sure how you would) you could do what tommudd said. Put a bunch of washers in there to full the void. |
