OK, so i bring my Libby in for a leaky seal replacement on my front diff-drive shaft... While replacing it, the tech notices i have a hole in my inner drive-line CV boot. Service Rep comes back to me and tells me that my aftermarket front strut have rubbed a hole in it and a new CV boot will be $45 plus labor to install. I tell them "bull$$it, I have looked at that area once a day for the last 3 months keeping an eye on the slow leak out of my front diff and have never noticed a hole in any of my CV boots" i tell the Service rep to go back to the Tech to discuss. Sure enough the Service Rep tells me that she thinks the tech was the one that put the hole in my CV boot while trying to pull out the driveline. She tells me she'll cover the cost of the CV boot and labor....

Now that that is all done, they are telling me that they now need to adjust the alignment "Eccentrics" , and that all Libby's need this done at some point. She tells me it will cost $245.00 to adjust the "eccentrics"...

WTF!!!??? I have searched the forums and found no information on "eccentrics"

I had the Libby aligned immediately after installing my Frankenlift Prem. II at a different Jeep dealer and it was only ~$65... Now I am thinking given that i had to pull the truth outta them in regards to my damaged CV boot, They are trying to BS me outta more money....

Has a dealership ever told anyone else that they needs to have thier vehicle alignment "eccentrics" adjusted???

if they checked your alignment on a rack, ask them for a printout of the specs.. how many degrees each wheel is off, and then look up factory specs yourself to be sure

x2

And politely tell them you are going to wait on the alignment, but you want the readings, so you can judge for yourself. And that you might bring it in another time to have that done. Of course, they could have knocked it out deliberately, but lets hope they are atleast more honest than that....

I think the "eccentrics" they are talking about are the cam bolts that are located where the lower control arms mount to the engine cradle. If that is what they mean then adjusting them would affect caster, camber or both so basically they'd be working on your alignment.

I'd go back and tell them they're a bit "eccentric" for thinking they can get that much for an alignment. I think I paid around $60 for an alignment when I got my BFGs installed a couple of months ago.

I don't think I'd be using that dealership again.

Run away quickly , do not look back go far far away from them!
Makes you wonder what all the tech messed up in there and is now trying to find a way to cover it all up.

So ALL Libertys need this done at some point   wonder how many have fell for that line so far?

Yup, make sure all is fixed and leave. They are using big words to try and make a sucker out of you and take your money.

What a bunch of dirtbags! They busted your boot and tried to make YOU pay for it! It's a good thing that you get under your jeep regularly, or they might have been able give you the shaft.

I think I would also report them to the Better Business Bureau.

and a nice letter/phone call to DC to report this incident wouldn't hurt either.

And the ideas keep rollin' in!

Man, dealerships are getting brilliant in these tough times!

I can adjust your alignment eccentrics for a mere $99.99! Hurry though, because the special is only through the end of the month, goes back up to $199.99! but it carries a one-year warranty!

I agree that you should ask for proof that your "alignment eccentrics" are out especially after they tried to "shaft" you on the CV boot. While asking for the proof I think you should ask to see the license of their "tech". I suspect that he graduated from a night school mechanics course just last week
