How do I know if I have the d35 or the chrysler 8.25"? Also, has anyone swapped there d35 for something stronger? A friend of myne with a TJ is doing a swap on his because he claims the d35 is a very weak axle... Whats the truth to this?

Walk to the rear bumper, bend over and look at your axle.

And yes the 8.25 is much stronger than the D35. It's close to a D44 in strength.

easiest way to tell the difference is the 8.25 is flat on the bottom.
