Then you got the wrong skid. The trans skid uses the rear 2 bolts of the front skid and the front 2 bolts of the t-case skid for mounting points, well at least the SkidRow one does.

i have the same skid, i broke off those two little "ears" on the front, they pissed me off lol. yea, uses back 2 bolts of the front engine skid, front 2 bolts of the rear transfer-case skid

in the front:
the tranny-skid goes BETWEEN the front engine skid and the crossmember

in the rear, in order:
transfer case crossmember
then transfer case skid
then lowest is the tranny skid, i drilled all the way through the transfer case crossmember and use longer bolts, nuts and washers. i used small steel spacers inbetween the transfer-case skid and the tranny-skid, ill take pics tomorrow for you

I would like to see these pictures too because I also have a 2002 liberty. If I can secure them well, I would like the mopar skids because they're cheap and I don't run MOAB.

I just drilled through the cross member and bolted it on , no spacers maybe a 02 /03 thing?

Notice he has a manual tranny-----His pic of that skid is EXACTLY the look of mine which covers up a 545RFE. Possibly his crossmember is a bit different too?

If you have the newer mopar tranny skid, you'll have to drill 1 hole in the transmission crossmember, passenger side. The skid doesn't line up right otherwise.

The bolt in the right rear of the engine skid also holds up the right front of the tranny skid... that's how I had mine done when I still ran the mopar tranny skid.

I'm not afraid to drill a hole if I can make the skid fit and get some protection. Thanks.

TOM, i didnt need the spacers, but just the way the perimeter lips were on both the mopar transfer case skid and tranny skid, i used a flat spacer so the lips werent touching, hard to explain.

i didnt need to drill the holes either, but my nutzerts brroke when i unbolted the transfer case skid, so i just drilled up through the other side of the crossmember and put a long bolt through it, instead of dealing with another nutzert, stronger this way too, in my opinion

We need a picture of the tranny cross member before we can tell you how to get it on.

You will need to bend those two ears up or break them off.

If the manual tranny on the 04 kj uses the same cross member as the 42rle you will need to drill two holes in the tranny cross member. The front of the skid gets sandwiched between the engine cross member and the engine skid. If you do not have an engine skid then only one hole will line up on the front.

Youve got to remember, this skid is meant for a 2005+ kj.

I purchased bolts for the tranny cross member. I believe I ended up getting grade 8 1/4inx2.5in. Its been a long time though so that may be wrong.

jeep jeepsters must be different, my crossmember bolts to the body with 4 bolts per side instead of 3. and my transfercase and tranny skid go on with the same 2 bolts through the same holes on the crossmember. i didnt have to make any new holes, i just drilled straight up through where the nutzerts were so i could use a longer bolt and washer/nut

Yours is a '02 with the 45RFE trans, his is a '04 with the 42RLE,and the thread starter has the manual trans.

yea thats how mine is, both rear engine-skid bolts line up with my engine skid/crossmember, one rear engine skid bolt also goes through the front of the tranny skid, but the other front tranny-skid mount just gets sandwiched between the engine skid and crossmember, and doesnt get a bolt, which its not going anywhere, because 3 bolts are in it(tranny-skid), and the front tranny-skid mount(the one that doesnt get a bolt through it) is still sandwiched between the engine skid and crossmember
