Here's my new self reward plan. Whenever I do my own work I'll take the money I saved on labor and spend about half of it on new tools. I should have a heck of a toolset in a few years.

Picked up 5 low mile MT/Rs on black steel wheels yesterday for $250. Yes, that's for all five. :shock:

They were from a Rubicon. Right up until I had them loaded into the back of the KJ I was afraid he'd cancel the deal because someone offered more money. The wheels look brand new.

I ordered a Fankenlift this morning. The lift was always a phone call away, but there's only so much money to go around, so I waited for a good deal on tires/wheels. I missed out on some MT/Rs mounted on Rubicon Tomb Raider wheels about 2 weeks ago because I forgot to bid before the auction closed.

The end goal is to use the steel wheels for offroad tires and find some alloys for street tires. The Tomb Raider wheels look pretty good.

Lift party at my house when the lift gets here. No I don't know what I'm doing, but that's part of the adventure.

I think that's $250 for BOTH tires and rims ...

Thanks for the offer Richard. I'll probably take you up on that. All J was waiting on some parts to come in, so the kit will ship anytime between tomorrow and next week. I would imagine that the later it ships the longer it will take to get here because of all the Christmas shipping going on.

My wife was skeptical about my ability to install the lift myself. Where's the faith?! So it took me a few months to do some work around the house. This is different because I want to do it. I told her that I would figure it out eventually, but if I couldn't then we would just part out the whole Jeep on E-bay. She didn't think that was funny. Anyway she was surprised that anyone would just come over to help. I said that's the way people are. There may be someone who knows how to do it or maybe someone who has never looked under the hood, but wants to learn. Either way there will probably be someone around to watch me beat my head on this thing.

Sounds like a lift party. Anyone else in the VA, MD area need anything done? Fred, what kind of tools do you have? I may be able to borrow a spring compressor for the day but dont count on it.

Thanks Jason. Hopefully it will be in before Christmas. It's still riding on the stock tires with about 38k miles on them and the tread is getting pretty low.

I have a decent selection of handtools. From looking at the Skyjacker installation instructions it looks like I have everything needed except the 1 7/16 socket for the outer axle nut (and a big breaker bar to crank it with). I'm assuming that the Frankenlift install is essentially the same. The Fankenlift comes with the stut already installed in the spring, so the compressor shouldn't be needed.

You will need a spring compressor for the rear springs. those are not tough though.

What type of engine are you running? With the name B100, I figured the CRD. Is this correct? If so the Frankenlift is not recommended. AllJproducts will not stand by there lift for this application. The front springs are too soft.

Any way, for directions. Pick up the latest 4Wheel Drive Mag. There is a right up on the install. You will not need to pull the axle nut to install this lift. Just separate the upper control arm from the spindle.

I still might be able to help. Depending on what day you plan. Saturdays before X-MAS are definitely out. Managing a retail store in December leaves little time.

OK, I did not know that.

It's a gasser 3.7. The bl00 was part of an old password at work. It has been too long to remember what it was originally part of. I just use it because it's short and no one else ever has it when I first log on to a board. The biodiesel connection is funny. It never occurred to me. The second letter is actually a lower case L.

I'll go out and try to find the 4wd mag this week. I'm sure it will help.

I read on another thread that the axle nut was 35mm. I see here that it's 1-7/16". There's a 16th inch difference there. I'm about to change out both front axles and wondering which socket I need to pick up.

the rear can be done without a spring compressor, just remove the shocks and jack up the rear of the Liberty, then replace the springs and lower the Liberty back down to install the shocks. It worked the last time I replaced coil springs.

The outer axle nut should be removed using a 1 7/16 socket.

TJ's use a 36mm socket.

Good luck on the lift, I can't wait to see some pictures.
