| Post subject: | Noob question - skid plates |
I just purchased an 06 Liberty Renegade and am a little confused about the skid plates. It obviously did not have a front plate and everything else except the armor over the gas tank appears to be missing. However, there are two things that look like rails over the differential and up by the front, pretty much directly between the two front tires. I am not seeing anything like it in any of the pics I have seen of the factory skid plates so I am not sure if the previous owner modified this or not. I took a pic (very blurry, stupid camera phone) and circled the area I am talking about. Anybody know what this is or if it came from the factory like this or what? I'm a bit confused lol. The pic is hosted on my picasa account at the following link: http://picasaweb.google.com/seolchan/CarPics#5301326809991840866 |

Hard to tell from the pic, but what's circled looks like the t case cross member. The KJ has 4 factory skid plates that are available for it. You can find them here at partsformyjeep.com, among other places. |

you appear to have the t-case skid and since you have a Rennie Id bet you might have a couple of the others but its really hard to tell from that picture. the four skids are: engine/ suspension transmission transfer case gas tank then if you want to count it there are also rock rails. |

I thought the Renegade models came with the lightbar and all the skids & tow hooks. Regardless, from your pics your Renegade is definately bare underneath. I'm going to suggest that you watch for other Liberty's in parking lots and have a peek under them. The available Mopar skids include the front skid, a transmision skid, a transfer case skid and the gas tank skid. With some research you can find aftermarket skid too. Myself I bought my skids one at a time as I could afford them in order from front to rear. If you'd like I can send you the installation instructions for the Mopar skids. Just PM me with an email address. |

Engine http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82209026.pdf Tranny http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82210003.pdf Gas tank http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82206122.pdf (transfer case was mislabeled - will update if I find it) okay - different site - but still shows the skid http://www.jeepprojects.com/content.php?article.39 It may have come with some - and someone may have decided not to put them back after an oil change |

Thanks for all the info! I had to take the pic at work with my iphone and it hates the dark so it came out like crap. I'll take a couple of pics with my point and shoot tomorrow and get them posted up here so hopefully we can make a positive ID on what's there/missing. Once again thanks sooooo much! |

Same here 03 Renegade everything except transmission skid. Early model Renegades came stock with all skids excluding a transmission skid. Transmission skids came stock on later models I believe 04 & on. Here's were I ordered my transmisson skid from. Great service & hard to beat prices www.jparts.com |

Well crap. More stuff to buy. One more question. In the last pic, there is a plate on the bottom of the car that has some mud on it. What is that? |
