When spring hits I plan on removing all the crappy flaking Jeep/Liberty/3.7L/4X4 badges from my liberty and replacing with custom decals. Since I am hoping to decal directly over where the original badges were I need to get the area complely clean with out any paint damage. I am hoping one or more of you guys have debadged your rides and may have some pointers, clensing products used, etc etc. Thanks for any pointers. |

some use fishing line etc to cut them off I have always just used a hair dryer, heated them up some, pulled them off and then use WD-40 or Glue be Gone to remove the glue and then buff it out good! |

I've heard a heat gun on its lowest setting gets the adhesive to let go very easily. You may want to test the temp/distance with a grilling thermometer or similar so you don't fry the paint, though. Dan |

i used a putty knife once on my grand am and it didn't scratch any. Just got to be very careful. When the emblem is off the get some goo gone and peal the old glue off. |

a bit off topic but if you want the letters to last longer, stay away from coin operated car washes, some have pretty strong soaps...especially the tire soap, I learned that the hard way but when that was done I tested the theory (it was only a Caravan lol) |

use a hair dryer or heat gun.. heat the area around the letters and a little heat on the letters themselves. use a plastic squeegee and just slide em off there ![]() |
