Ok, I am probably just missing the information I am looking for entirely but I ran a couple of searches on here and on google and have failed utterly to find out where everyone is buying these front differential collars they are talking about. Can anyone point me to the right place? Thanks.

make sure you get aluminum not steel

I think this is the right part number at mcmasters.com for the aluminum version. 60665K23. Can anyone verify this?

Guess that is the right part number but good question, Why aluminum and not steel? I'm guessing something to do with the fact the diff case is aluminum but I dunno.

steel rusts and corrodes against the aluminum housing. It would or could actually eat into the housing somewhat, think about it for a little bit

easy to put on 5 minute job

This CAN be a pain in the butt if you aren't a contortionist! Some of the housings ( like mine) seem to have a bit of flashing or casting material left were you need the collar to go. You can emery cloth this away. Anti-seize inside of the collar may not be a bad idea.

i believe the term is electrolysis or electralisis something like that... basically don't mix metals that are going to connect or attach to one another.

Galvanic corrosion

although it requires an electrolyte - much more of a problem in snow country than in Texas.

I have a steel collar on mine and its doing ok.. Although its covered in oil so corrosion really isnt an issue. Thats one good thing about a leaky pinion seal. :lol:

Sweet! Thanks a bunch. I just ordered the collar today along with the factory skid plates I was missing. I'll get it on there as soon as it gets here. Along with some anti-seize on the threads of course.
