Post subject:  POWERTRAX LOCKERS

Does anyone know anything or have these lockers? I know they make a rear, but do they make a front? Also, I have read that they don't make noise, but have read that lockers make a "clicking" sound, anyone know if they do or don't and what is available for the KJ, princing and where to get them?

i have one for the rear. There is a member on here that is going to try and install one in his front end. He'll be the first to see if it works or not. I do not hear any clicking at all in my rear locker. Every once in a while it will make a pop sound but that is it. I love mine.

I've had my Powertrax for a few years now, and it works great. It bangs and pops and grabs from time to time, but you get used to it.

Whenever my locker makes my KJ drive strange, I just remember how great it works in Moab.

I didn't know they made one for the D30a.

It isn't for the D30a, it is for the D30 but he is going to try and see if it will or make it fit r something.

Powertrax makes the Locrite and the No-slip.
The No-slip is more street friendly. My No-slip has been in 4+yrs. with no noises yet.
The majority of us here use the Detroit True Trac limited slip up front.

Do either of the two wear out the gears sooner? Also what is the model for the KJ for the front?

I have both the Powertrax (rear) and DTT (front) and have yet to hear any clicking out of either locker.

You won't hear any clicking out of the DTT because it is not a locker

Right, its a limited slip. How exactly does it work and why would you get one since it doesn't lock?

The DTT is a gear driven LSD,it has more torque bias then any other LSD,which means it "locks" more,or it actually takes more torque to unlock it.You can also easily fool the DTT into "locking" like a real locker by applying the brakes a little.Did it all the time when I had my DTT in the front diff of my KJ.Plus you do not need to add and friction modifier since it does not have any clutches and will not wear out like clutched based LSD's.The DTT is great for the front, the Detroit Locker or ARB is the best 2 choices for the rear in my opinion.

so most seem to run the DTT in the front because they don't make a true locking diff for the KJ, is that right or am I just under that impression?

Aussie says its not for use in the front axle now Ive heard some good things about it for the rear 8.25, the only traction aids that we know work in the front of the KJ are the DTT and the ARB. The DTT works great, I have one and I love it.

what is run in the front diff of the KJ, it's the D30 right or is it the D30a? How many splines is it 27 for the front? Aussie makes a front locker for the D30, 27 spline and would fit if thats whats in there but i'm not sure.

this is a link, to where they mention KJ owner's to check if you have "the Dana 30A or Next Generation Differential the XD13027 does not fit that carrier". So if you have a the D30, it should fit is what I'm getting from what it says.

all KJs have the D30a, but when you buy a locker or DTT you buy one for a D30, 27 spline, 3.73 and up.
