I belive this is the fundamental part of a franky (I belive I asked this before and cant find it in the search, so I'm sorry). My question is, would this work without changing the shocks/struts (I know it wont be a smooth ride), and also, what could I expect height? How much would I gain from the top plates? The OME springs are about 2" or so I read, so would this put me closer to 2.5"?

The Frankenlift also has a spacer of course
We did 501s this way, Daystar top plate, OME Heavy Duty springs and 3 conduit nuts he got about 2.75 to 3 inches of lift , you can check with him to make sure

But please if you are going to go through all the work replace the front shocks, yours are done for now , why run them? Plus the rears will be too short with lifting it so you need new rears as well, don't do it half donkeyed

Lets not start a whole thread about this, but if I didn't do my front shocks, it would be to save money, and because my current ride is fine, me and my wife and my friends are happy with it, and dont feel the need to further improve it. But, if I could I will. Heres a nother question for yah Tom, since I got your attention. What do you think about cramming some 255/70/15 KM2s under a stock libby? I wanted 245/70/16 but they dont fracking make KM2s in that size LOL

Not starting anything here but facts are facts you have a Liberty that is over 6 years old, the shocks are worn out, trust me, also you are going to have to tear down the springs anyways so why not replace the shocks while you are in there, it is saving money because you will not be doing it later.

Don't think you will ever cram 255-70s in there, again when new maybe but I am sure that yours has sagged some over the years to where they would hit for sure, also a 70 series tire which is wider and that type of tire with the outside lugs would pose some problems.

You may think I go over board on this but trust me you would be so much happier if you could replace the shocks all around and be done with it.

Well, I'm shooting to get good tires now, so, the lift is on hold. For the main reason that I can save, and do it right. I have 235/70/16 stockers and from what I figure, the 255's are a total of 1" bigger, with enough trimming and such, why don't you think they would fit? I seem to have plenty of room in there now, my stockers are not tight by any means...

With the Daystar top plate, OME HD's and 2 ring clevis, I'm riding at 21½" center of hub to bottom of flare. I have 255/70/16's on it and it rides really smooth. I gained about ¾"-1¼" over the daystar and my old coils. Wish I would have done it this way the first time around.

235-70-16 29.1 inches tall and have a section width of 9.5
255-70-16 is 30.2 inches tall with a section width of 10.2

width will get you into problems as well plus like I stated before with the tires you want they have large lugs which makes it harder to fit them in there
plus saggig suspension :?
But go ahead and buy them, also get a saw and just cut out what ever hits , simple and easy

What did you run before? Full daystar lift? With all new ranchos, or stock shocks and such?

Obihann, why don't you buy 501's old Daystar kit and so have a cheap 2.5" lift with stock components.

Then you can fit bigger tires.

And for TOM:

I asked this before, I don't see the benefit of fitting daystar topplates to an OME spring without a Frankenlift puck.

Imo with the cars weight on the spring al the topplates will do is push the shock in/down while lift hight will be the same as any OME equipped KJ.

You do get more droop..but if it helps lifting... :?

Stock shocks and struts? Did you wheel it much? How bad was it when it topped out?

Any opinions on the skyjacker rear springs (N8088)?

If it makes a difference of doing it right and cheap, or wrong.... You don't need new shocks and struts to run a daystar puck lift... But as old as your KJ is, they are both worn out, that much I am sure of. For the front, I would definitely replace them. the rear, you just wont have full articulation that you would have with a new set of shocks designed for the lift. If your on a budget, Pick up the tires, a used daystar lift (for sale section, or 150 US + shipping new), a set of Ranho's for the rear, and if you cover shipping, I'll send you my complete front suspension assembly for free. They are used, but were pulled at 20k miles, so they are no where as worn as yours.

Just OME coils, what kind of a lift would I expect? Well, OME coils and new rear shocks, but I doubt that would make a difference.

It did 'BOING' in the rear and often lifted a tire of the ground.

And you can just swap out the OEM springs for OME's if you want. Lift will be the same hight as with aftermarket shocks, the front are all of the same length (give or take a few mm).

And about stock stuff being warn out...I pulled mine at 135k Km and they seemed just fine?

I think I'm leaning towards the daystar lift, combined with rear shocks from skyjacker, and the stock front struts. Unless I can get a good local quote on the OME coils.

The 2,5" is a good lift and a good start. You can always upgrade later.

Dunno about those skyjacker shocks though...Can't you get Rancho's overthere?

Now this will sound like blasphemy to some but...have you considered the Terraflex lift?

Easy install. And when you upgrade you already have the bumpstops :D

Here's a link:

Using the OME HD coils, factory strut mount, and both factory spring isolators will gove you 2.5" without clevis, you can gain an extra 3/8" on the clevis if desired.

The lift comes from the OME HD coil compressing less than the stock coil (a complete front strut assembly with stock coils and OME HD coils look exactly the same, same length, but when the Liberty is sitting the OME coil doesn't compress as much) Thus using an OME HD coil with the Daystar strut mounting plate would only give you the same lift as using the factory strut mounting plate, therefore, Don't Do It!. If you are going to go with the OME HD coil (which I would suggest) there is no need, nor any gain in getting the Daystar top plate without a coil puck.

I was running the full daystar lift with my old coils and shocks, in the front and skyjacker shocks and my old coils in the rear. But with 95,000± miles on them, the old coils were sagging pretty good.
