The other day, I was running a wire under the driver's side carpet when I felt that the foam underneath was all wet. First thought: "I have a hole somewhere!" Wrong!!!! I followed the trail of water and discovered something stupid. Even though I had the original carpet and the jeep mud and snow carpet on top of it, the snow from my feet after melting was going under the kick panel and under the carpet since DC decided in their great wisdom (read greediness) to cut the carpet 1/2" after the kick panel, leaving a huge space for water mixed with calcium to infiltrate under the carpet onto the metal floor to make sure it will rust!!!! Great! I checked my wife's Tercel to discover that Toyota had the common sense to install the carpet in the shape of a pan, keeping all the water on the carpet and avoiding infiltration. The kick panel is 1 1/2" above the carpet pan shaped floor. On the libby, the floor is straight. The only solution is to purchased Husky liners which are basically rubber pans. I purchased those and hopefully, my floors should remain in one piece. Check yours just in case, you don't want to end up with a Fred Flinstone's car in a few years. |

i put the adhesive mats in my floorboard that dealers put in cars without floormats, then put my floormats ontop of the adhesive mat, it isn't real pretty but it's very functional lol |

I noticed the same issue on mine last winter. That is why I bought my Husky liner mats. Great investment! |

Kinda confused, why does it matter where they cut the carpet? Any amount of snow on top of the carpet is going to melt and go through the carpet, its not water proof. I bought the floor guards years ago to keep that from happening. Often I get in my Jeep and all the water will be frozen in the mat.

I went Weathertech but anything that traps the water/mud/sand/snow from getting into the carpet is a good thing

Yeah, this is what sucks about these mats. I throw an old shirt on top of the mats to help absorb some of the water. But my carpet is always dry. |

Husky floor mats were one of my first upgrades. These things will hold a half a gallon of water easy. |

The carpet is kind of weatherproof, otherwise, your floors would always be wet. Where they cut it matters because this is the path of infiltration. The Husky liners are great. I had other type of protective carpets (pant savers type) but nothing worked. |
