Post subject: New CV Joints for KJ's
PostPosted: Wed Jul 13, 2005 5:52 pm
I recently read an article that JE Reel Driveline (from Pomona, Ca) has just manufactured new heavy duty CV joints for the KJ.

I talked to the owner who said they're still working on images & text for these on their web site. He went on to say that they run $185.per or $250.00 whole axle. I asked if they would give L.O.S.T a club discount and he said it was something he could work on. The joints are available now.

So, would installing these CV joints benefit most of us? The article stated replacing the weak DC parts with these techno metal componets would enhance our IFS.

(Note to Mod's, if I have posted in the wrong forum thread, feel free to place this wherever is appropriate).

Hmmm, thanks for the research.

so, along wtih this, what can we put in if we have rusty's lift? I was thinking maybe just one of the spacer lifts on the front and back. They're rather cheap.

A great step in the right direction! I would then add strut spacers, longer A arms, and a tougher front diff (or at least a stronger housing)

Longer A-arms are in order before you go throwing spacers under your spring lifts. Your downward travel would be almost non-existant without them.

I started looking around this week for someone to fab some up; I haven't found anyone yet, but didn't try that hard either. If I find anything in the next few weeks I'll let you folks know. I think someone mentioned they had this done before, but it was posted on the old board and didn't make it over.

It was JeepinAl. He had some custom A-arms built, but they are stock length. They have a serviceable ball joint which is the big selling point. He would probably be a good source of information to get the ball rolling here though.
