So, the yesterday, a friend of mine and I went to find an abandoned junk yard. I went up a small steep hill, and put it in 4-lo and turned on the locker so I wouldn't leave ruts. Well after the hill I put it back in 2-Hi and turned off the locker, however, the Part-Time light was on. So I shifted it a couple of times and it continues to be on while in 2-Hi. It doesn't light up in 4-Hi or in Neutral and the 4-lo lights up like it should. I have driven it on pavement with my windows down to see if I hear any tire squeak, and I haven't. I also drove in circles and figure-8s on loose gravel with my windows down, still no weird tire sounds. How can I be sure that my Liberty is actually in 2-Hi? How can I fix this light? |

It should be in 2hi. Other Jeeps are doing the same thing. There was a thread posted a few days ago about it. The part is a "Transfer Case Position Sensor" and can be bought for $50 or less at your dealer. A good way to be sure your in 2wd if you have a V6 is to hit some dirt road and gas it. The rear end should break loose if your in 2hi. Please be careful if you do that, don't want anyone flipping their Jeep on my account. |

Thanks, is the shifter for the transfer case physically attacked to what mode you are int? Can I just use its position to tell if I am in 2-Hi? |

On the same day this indecent happened, I went to a tire shop near by my house, lifted the car on the jack and only the rear wheels were was spinning. |
