well, it was a nice day out today and i was off untill four so i decided to take a stab at the jeeps trans..

so far:

Skid off
All elc connectors uncliped
cooler lines off
shift cable off
transfer cable off
support collar bolts off
torque converter housing off
driveshaft off

more yet to come.. lol

trying to figure out where to buy a tranny from.. i would like a new or lightly used jasper.. what do you guys think about th eebay tranny's? worth it or no.. i just dont want to spend 3k at the dealer. sugg on where i can pick a nice one up at?

we always had good dealings with jasper on both engines and trannys, i don't have any exp with their jeep stuff however

sometimes costs just as much to rebuild one as it does to buy one from jasper, whats the costs of rebuilding the 42rle and 45rfe?

i think the master kit to rebuild it is about 240 ish just for info purposes

the 45rfe only came in the 02's and crd correct? so that means i have the 42 rle for 03-04's

im not sure i didnt think about having mine rebuilt.. ill look into that.

If you need some muscle, seriously shoot me a PM. After the 15th, I will be off for 6 wks. I got's bunches of jacks too. I have a nice small steel dolly that works great for tranny or even motor to move it in and out ou can borrow.
Your pic looks like you live on the west side somewheres in Highland park, not far from Park Ave.?

Ya, i will thanks. I just have four more bolts left and the trans is out now.. everythign else is off.


Yep, I do live off of park ave on edgewood in highland park. :)

it shouldnt take me much longer to get the trans out..

We have church members that live where Park/Haven meet and some family friends live on Haven...I used to be in that area everyday. Looked really familiar. Sad the big old tree in the middle of the road on Virginia went down
Sounds like you pretty much got it out. It's always a bear getting them back in, I can come over and help get it back in, no problem, just let me know.
