I saw somewhere that a new Aussie Locker for the 8.25 (lunch box style) would be coming out in May. Is this true and if it is where is the info on it. I can't seem to find any real info on it. Is there an official price for the unit? I heard it would be a bit cheaper than the Powertrax no slip too. Anyone got some goods on this puppy? :)

So under the Jeep vehicle info on http://www.offroadlockers.com it only says 02-04 front Dana 30 for the kj. Is there any info on their website about the 8.25 rear? Will it cost the same $239.99?

it should be right around that price range. i dont think that they really make a locker for the D30a just the D30 ( i could be wrong though)

i wouldnt put that locker in the front anyways. if u can do an ARB do a Detroit TT or something like that thats not locked all the time. unless u never drive u KJ on the street that is.

I have seen guys jumped on Pirate ( shocking, I know) for saying that front lunch-box lockers won't work without lock-outs. They swear they are just fine. I have my doubts, but there do seem to be a good number of TJ guys who do it and SAY it behaves OK on the road.

IIRC, the only difference in the D30 & D30a internally is the length of the pinion shaft????? If so, the spiders & carrier would be the same and the same Aussie probably works in both.

I personally think the the TT might be the best option for keeping the D30a alive as it looks like it would do the most to prevent the shock loads that split the case. Just in my head, it may be better than the stock open pig in that regard.

I don't really think I will ever put a locker up front. I don't plan on wheeling hard enough to need it. But the rear is pretty much a must. So I am not too concerned about the front setup, but if I ever did get a front locker, I would get a ARB most likely. Will http://www.offroadlockers.com be selling the Aussie directly?

I had one of those in my CJ for a year or so and it clicked way to much for something I would drive everyday. Spend the extra money for a No Slip, they are much quieter for daily driving.

So you had an Aussie in the rear of your CJ and it was loud? Bummer, I hear the new one is supposedly the quietest on the market. So they say.

I liked the locker, it never failed me offroad, but i don't drive my CJ very often it's just a toy for nice weather harder wheeling than the Liberty likes. Having run the NoSlip and the Aussie, I like the fact that the NoSlip doesn't click all the way around every corner. Just my opinion, others may not mind the clicking noises.

So which would you rather have? The No Slip or Aussie? I understand about the clicking from the Aussie but other than that, performance wise was one better than the other?

Well, my Aussie has been in the front my LJ for a month now and I've only heard it click 3 times... An it behaves fine on the road too.

there should be, moose was the one to tell us and he talked to Bill Cole who is the maker of them, my fingures are crossed too I really need somethin in the rear

I just got off the phone with Bill Cole of Torque Masters (maker of Aussie Locker). He indicated that they will be releasing a Chrysler 8.25 version of their lunchbox locker in May 2008. After reading a lot of threads on lunchbox lockers for my front D30 in the Wrangler, Aussie was a clear winner (and should show up via UPS today :D ). So I just wanted to pass this on to everyone who is thinking about a lunchbox locker, in case you can wait until May.

Performance wise they seemed the same, both the aussie and the NoSlip worked great offroad. If I put a locker in the KJ it would be a NoSlip or an ARB, but that's just my opinion based on my own experiences.

Most of the reviews I read on the Aussie locker also said that it made very little noise. I double checked my tolerances and used different oil weights to quiet it down but it never got any better. Since my CJ is mostly offroad, it wasn't that big of a deal. It did get lots of odd looks going around corners in my neighborhood though :D

Yes, we expect the 8.25 to be in the May manufacturing schedule. We don't have an expected ship schedule to us however. We appreciate that there are concerns that this model might not come out, but we will have it in the near future as it is part of our overall market strategy.
