Most likely a faulty dimmer on the indicator stalk.
you know, that stick behind the steering wheel. Try moving the dimmer up and down. See if the lights come back on.
Thanks tonycrd. I finally figured it out. We are in Alberta, Canada and you are required to burn your headlights both night and day. That's not something I am used to. Well... when you turn on your lights the brightness of all the stuff I was not seeing is controlled by the little ring on the indicator stalk. I had inadvertently turned the brightness all the way off. When I first started the car the displays came on. As soon as I turned the headlights on everything went away. Imagine my embarrassment when I finally figured it out.
It puzzled the devil out of me for quite a while until I was looking at the EVIC when I turned the lights on and noticed that it went out. DUH...
Don't tell anyone, OK?
