Post subject:  NO MORE FRONT RECEIVER HITCH FOR THE KJ?

The word is that the guys making the front receivers for the KJ are going to drop that from their line. If you are thinking about adding a front receiver...You might want to place an order fast. Be sure to ask if they have it in stock before you place the order.

I know it will be listed at a lot of sites but I was told this today by a very good source. I called All J Products today and Quinn told me he did have a few but did not know how much loner they would be bale to get them. Hope this helps. Later...Clint

Again before you place an order from some place be sure they can get it for you.
Quinn had 9 in stock.

Hidden Hitch or one of the other vendors?

All of them... You will be able to still get a tow hitch but not a plain jane front receiver. The tow hitch cost a LOT more just FYI. Later...Clint

Reese and Drawtite have merged.

The Reese front reciever is still being made part Number 13542. The Drawtite version has already been terminated. This infor mation is from Reese's customer service line. This is the one I just ordered.

Why would they do that? Ive always wanted one of those, and would have one if i hadent already gotten the tow hooks.

Yea I think Reese is one of the guys that is dropping it as well. They were not a hot item so the small number of guys making them are dropping them. I was told there are only like 40 in the US still sitting on racks...and then they are gone. I will say it one more time...Be sure if you order one forn someone...they have it in stock before placing the order. Later...Clint

I just went through the nightmare trying to get one. I have seen two year '05 Libs on this site that fit this one on even though it's only spec for '02-'04. I finally got it by finding a site that knew to replace the cancelled Drawtite one with the Reese one as quoted above. But the Reese might be ending this model too! I had about 4 orders cancelled with different vendors AFTER they were confirmed. Here is the direct link that got me a great price and the Reese 13542:

http://www.drawtite-hitches.com/front_m ... t_jeep.htm

I found this link in a 'cached' google search and found no other way to get to it normally. It lists the Drawtite Model Number 65042 for year 2002 only, but I knew better. I ordered it, and they changed my order to the 13542 automatically for the same price. I now have the Reese one sitting on my floor for about $126 delivered.

hidden hitch is 2 piece and I believe can be mounted w/o removing the bumper cover... That is the one All J has.

As for the reese solid one piece if that is what you prefer you can get it from hitchfinder.com, I called them to get the price and place my order, toll free line on site. Is supposed to be delivered by Fed Ex on Friday.

Post subject:  my source from february 2004...

I put the reese one piece hitch on the front of my '04 sport....you have to remove the grill and the plastic front bumper facia to access the mounting points....they are the same mount points as for the factory front tow hooks....you have to remove the hooks if you want the hitch....

the hitch came with 8 or 10 plastic rivets to reattach the plastic fenders to the plastic bumper....some of the original attachment rivets are reusuable (around the grill).....it took a couple hours with me figuring it out as I went along....again, this is the one piece unit that requires removing the plastic....no cutting or fitting was needed to reinstall the plastic and the "look" is very clean and professional....

click here reese front hitch R13542

as was mentioned up above....I don't know if the product is available but the listing is still there as of 12-21-05....

it's very useful on trail rides....I've been both rescued and I've done the rescuing of others....

For the two piece, it's a much simpler process to remove the front plastic and install it. Takes about 15 minutes ot remove. Another 15 to put it back. It's also virtual impossible if you have toe hooks to remove. You can get rivets and such at a NAPA dealer.

Just so y'all know..Camper City in Horn Lake, MS says that no, Reese is not discontinuing it, but it'll be a month before they can get it in.

Like I said, Reese is continuing with theirs. Drawtite is dead, acquired by/merged with Reese. Only issue is whether Reese can retool drawtite's tools to make the reese version because that is the one they want to keep. With other ones going away, I can see the price going up sharply though unfortunately.

I just ordered the Reese from Hitchfinder.com on the WWW and received confirmation that the order was a go with no indication of a backorder.

But beware! There will be a massive toilet paper shortage for the next couple months!!! Stock up NOW!!!
