me either that is pretty neat. I was getting ready to start tearing the roof lining out of the GF's kj and all that plastic stuff to see how to build a roll cage inside it |

Personally I think if you are going to roll your KJ to the point where it completely crushes the cab, your somewhere you shouldn't have been with your KJ (unless you're SFA and running more difficult trails). If you think you need a roll cage for your KJ....get a JK. |

Agree. I also feel that for the majority of the type of wheeling that is done in a KJ, slow crawling, the factory roof structure is plenty beefy for the job. I only think a cage would be needed if running fast like in pre-running or baja style off road racing, etc. I do think a cage Would offer additional rigidity to the vehicle for SFA vehicles which would be a good thing. I do not feel having an internal cage structure hanging down where I could smash my head on it would be worth it though. I Would prefer to have an exo cage if it was beefy enough to withstand a roll And protect the majority of sheet metal in the process but I fear that an exo like that would weigh Way more than I would want to add to the KJ. Guess I won't be getting either any time soon then. |

Terry yeah thats what most roll cages are made from, 1.75"x.120" although on the roll cage for my CJ I might end up using 1.5"x.1875" just because I can get it really cheap |

(You Need a cage on a TJ, obviously, since there is No roof structure.) Oh and wheres the fun in buying a TJ over SFA-ing a KJ anyway? Even on an IFS KJ I don't feel there is a need for a cage unless someone makes a high travel IFS rig and desert races it......I would still Love to do that. |

I dunno, I've watched 300 or so rollovers on youtube (fascinating way to kill time, anytime I have 5 minutes to spare I search youtube for "jeep roll" or "4x4 rollover" or a dozen similar phrases) and 1/3 to 1/2 of them are not on serious rock-crawling territory. Of course, many of those result from driver error, so you might argue that these people should learn how to drive, rather than spend $ on cages. The most violent ones result from extreme height dirt hill climbing, which I guess the KJ is just as capable of as the TJ or any SFA. Strangely, there are almost no KJs in the rollover videos on youtube - I think I've seen 0 offroad and 1 street wreck (cabin held up fine - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAoQ55ufhpU ). Link me up if you find any more, please. I'd like to see more evidence of how the stock cabin fares. |

i think it would be nice to have... in my opinion you can never be safe enough. all it takes is one slide sideways on a slippery hill climb and over you go. would not be hard at all to roll a KJ on wheeling it's completely capable of.. and yes i know that's driver error but hey everyone makes mistakes. now.. an exo cage would be the best case! but how much weight do you really want to put on an already top heavy KJ. |

I think it could be useful, I would have rolled my KJ but I slide into a tree which is about the only reason I didnt roll, although granted is was partly the drivers fault, but I still think it would be a good idea. |

Exo cages are pretty gross but really the way to go for rigs like KJs, XJs, etc. but an inner one could be really useful too. Exos just protect rigs better. But there isn't much extra room inside for a cage so I could see banging your head on it a lot while wheeling. If anyone is considering it, I say do it. Then if you do roll it, you can just cut off all that damaged body and turn it into a soft top. If they had pics of it in a rig I think it would help people decide and it could convince me maybe. |

Question... Besides the DOM they also have an EWS cage for KJ's for 399. What is EWS, and how does it compare strength wise to DOM tubing? |
