I called Rusty. His aren't ready for shipping yet. I hate to do it but, I just ordered OEM replacements for now. Hopefully, Rusty will have some ready by the time these fail... that just seems wrong.

Hi I have a question about the ball joints on the 08 Liberty. Does anyone know if they fixed the problem? It is supossed to be a all new front suspension under the Lib.

I'm sure they claim to have the issues resolved but, it's still a sealed, non-serviceable joint. Anyone know if the K3199's will work on a KK, yet?

Hey all I'm new to L.O.S.T... I've read thru this thread on bad ball joints, I've noticed popping an banging ocasionally when stopping or starting off an sometimes while turning pretty much whenever but it's not consistant.. I've had it a week now, It's an '06 limited with 12,000 miles. I'm thinkin it's ball joints but I'll be takin it to the dealer in the next couple days to have it checked.. any other ideas on what it could be or does it sound like I'm pretty close??

Very well could be. Might also just be bad bushings in the steering or sway-bar end-links.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I recently started getting strange squeaky noises, and the verdict from fellow jeepers is that possibly bad LBJ. Mine were replaced under the recall. Now I want to lift it from the lower control arm and see if there is any play. Would it be OK to use the stock jack that comes with the jeep to lift it? Is there any danger, or do I need something more stable like a jack stand?

I would not worry about them, ...as long as you keep it in the garage and never drive it  little bit loose there, and you wonder why you have noise ??? :? :?

How many miles since they were replaced under recall?
Are both sides bad?

I will have to check that. Will post by tomorrow, but not too long, since I only have about 46k on it right now. But hearing that a few people had problems with them after 8000 miles, I think I am still luck that mine lasted longer, it's been at least 2 years on mine.

Thanks for the replies, sounds like I will have to keep mine on the lot until next monday.

I think the ball joints were already replaced in mine but is it possible that the grinding noise I hear when turning is caused by them? I checked powersteering and that is not the problem.

Not usually a grinding noise (I don't think, anyway). Grinding says front diff or tranny, to me. Ball joints are usually a thud/clunk noise. Also check steering and sway-bar end-links.

i think my new (to me) liberty has the bad ball joints. makes some thunks over bumps and has weird tire wear on the front. going to check it later to day or tomorrow but if it is the lbjs and my liberty already had the recall filled, can i take it to them again and have them replaced again? my buddy who used to work for jeep said yes because its an open campaign but he also said if i don't want to screw with them i can go over to his house and use his shop and he and i can change them to some greasables. he said its not hard at all and the only thing to make it take a bit of time is the front cv needs to be removed to flip the arm to pop the ball joint out. i told him i am going to find out if i can have the local dodge dealer fix it since we no longer have a jeep dealer and he said yes, two local dodge/chrysler places are the factory repair places now.

so, do you fellas suppose that dodge/jeep will cover it under recall since they fixed it before? i geuss i will call and find out but jsut wondering you guys thoughts
