Im putting a tranny skid on right now and was wondering how you all bolt it up. 2 of the 4 holes line up. I am just going to drill a new hole in the tranny/tcase cross member, but do you all just clamp it between the engine skid and the cross member or drill through the engine skid and the cross member? Theres no hole in the engine skid to let me just bolt the tranny skid up, it hides one of the holes. Im not going to be doing any insane rock crawling, so would it just be fine to sandwich it in there?

aight, even though ive not gotten any answers, ive got another question.

The back right hole does not line up with anything. I have to drill all new holes. This guy didnt even use the right hole, i take it he thought it was to close to the edge of the cross member to be strong enough. Im not going to drill any holes until someone gets back to me.

put that in your web browser, i cant get it to work on here.

Should i do the same thing he did?

Edit: i just relized something, with the 45re tranny the cross memeber is totally different. Heres a pic of what i can do,

Do you think thats big enough to drill and hold that skid in?

You've got a 2004, I think the tranny skid only came out last year, on the 2005. My CRD came with them. The holes aren't the same in the frame.
Look at the All J Products site, I think you'll see that their products also differentiate between the earlier rigs and the 2005-6 rigs.

If your skid is anything like the ones I've dealt with you need to do some drilling on the cross member, just make sure you don't hit anything important. IIRC, there is wiring harness just above the crossmember. It's easy to avoid and shouldn't be a problem. Up front, you may have to notch your factory engine skid for the driver's side bolt and possibly insert spacers between that crossmember and the skids. About a 1/2" spacer on both bolts of the leading edge of the trans skid should do the trick. Keep in mind, I haven't dealt with your particular skid so some of this info might be a little off.

EDIT: I just looked at the other picture of your skid. What I suggested for the leading edge will not work with your's. Without looking at it, I couldn't really suggest anything else.
